Koni Special Actives
Thanks for the recommendation. I am interested. Was looking at a KW street comfort coil over kit. So instead if I go with Koni, can I put together a coil over kit with the front and rear with VWR sport springs and a suspension install kit? I’m just wondering if there are some special components in a coil over kit that I would be missing by getting things piecemeal.

front = 2 x KON-8245-1326
springs = VWR r-line sport

rear = 2 x KON-8745-1324
springs = VWR r-line sport

I can order the ultimate suspension kit from ShopDAP to get the rest of the parts, bushings, mounts, bolts and nuts.

New “stupid” post from me. I’m planning a big upgrade to my MK7 2017 Golf 1.8T hatchback. My hardware is coming and I have a mechanic available to install. Here is a list:
  • IS38 w/ new waste gate actuator, muffler delete and oem DV
  • Intercooler from CTS Turbo with new charge and throttle pipes
  • Full turbo-back exhaust (including downpipe)
  • 034Motorsport HPFP with vacuum pump to adapt the 2.0 HPFP

I was planning to go with APR stg 3 for IS38 and 91AKI. However, they said they don’t have a tune that does CEL suppression and nothing for the HPFP. I don’t know if I want to go with them anymore and I’m not sure if the HPFP is worth it. Any opinions?

My 2 questions are:
  1. Is there a better option for IS38 FBO tune that supports HPFP?
  2. Is changing the vacuum pump really difficult? Looks like its bolted to the camshaft.
Thanks in advance

Is there an easy search for part numbers for VW? Every website I have tried has the most non intuitive way of finding part numbers.

Is anyone able to help with part numbers for the two different length bolts for the pendulum mount where it attaches to the transmission?

Anyone know of a lesser-strength hood strut for my car, to go with the lighter CF hood?

Maybe A3 8V hood strut would fit? 8V had aluminium hood instead of steel
Oh wow thank you! I would think that VAG would have that strut valved a good bit less than the OEM GTI strut. I pulled mine off over a year ago when the CF hood went on. It being too strong for that hood I feared it would damage the hood. I was looking at the strut last night and I cant even compress it. Wondering if it seized?

Lol I dug deeper on the A3 vs GTI hood, it is indeed made of Aluminum vs. the GTI being steel.
A3 Hood weight: 10.6 lbs.
GTI Hood weight: 36 lbs.

The A3 hood strut has to be valved differently being that much lighter.
A3 hood strut: 8V0823359 $86 bucks (OEM Audi)
GTI hood strut: 5GM823359 $25.00 (OEM VW)

Well, I have 8V (that how I know that is alu hood :p ) and dunno if Stabilus is avaible in US, but Stabilus 391494 is OE stuff. If it helps, Stabilus 391494/8V0823359 is rated for 200N and IMO, I could be a little bit weaker comparing to OEM strut on Golf Hoods, but probably is difficult to make it feel the same because of less weight. It closes ok (no need to use too much force), but opening is much faster compared to steel hood and OEM strut on mk7 golfs

Need some help:

My steering rack goes notchy about 1-2hrs into a long drive. Every time I restart the car it goes back to normal. I drove the car 9hrs yesterday and noticed that. Last stretch I drove through some snow and it went notchy again when the esc kicked in for a moment. Battery issues or something else?

Edit: Scanned u141100 - 4 faults which aligns with the stops I made on my drive yesterday. B10CE00 - Blower reduction due to energy management.

Battery is at 12.56V sitting in the cold for a few hours.

@Kart17 : Hi.

What diagnostic device are you using to identify these error codes? It's far better to post-up screenshots, or exact details of these errors messages because there's much more information stored in fault memory that's useful in fault finding. Just telling us the error-number is very limiting!

Anyway, a resting battery voltage of 12.56V is normal for a healthy battery - so it's unlikely that the problem with this car is the battery itself.

More likely (albeit again, my guess is limited because there's not much supporting fault data), the issue with this car might be a defect on the electrical infrastructure for the battery. I suggest that you check the basics - the battery terminal clamps, the earth connection to the car body on the negative battery terminal, the connector on the battery monitor module that's on the negative battery clamp.
