I feel it in the soul, I've decided for the next half hour or so that I'm going IS38 and E, but without a doubt later tonight I'll be eying up a Vortex. I like the indecision though, because it forces me to research every option and then I wind up knowing more than I would've otherwise.
It's a perfect place to be honestly. That's how I ended up with a 2260. Dak was deadset against me going that route and told me I should go vortex. It caused me to research from mamba to litco....found that the 2260s was the sweet spot where I wanted to be....just a tad above the IS38, but below the vortex.

Now, I SHOULD have listened to getting MPI beforehand...but didn't and now am at the end of the runway, so I'm reaching out to Sean about the MPI kits for my next upgrade.

but I have been eyeing a fully built 04 WRX blobeye that I really want LOL

But per your original question... I'd just assume somebody's ducking with you in a fairly benign way.

Honestly that one's not so difficult to avoid, I want midrange power. BUT there's so many IS38 iterations, who knows what will happen

Totally get it. I have the DTR and I love the top end, but wish I could get is20 low end crossed with DTR (or more) top end without having to dump dumb money into it. Wife's already looking at my seats like they're a vacation down the drain.

Hey, at least they're not $600 cat fart xrays at the emergency vet

for the record this is better than the alternative(s), we thought something big was wrong (we love our cat) and I thought it was going to be more like a $1k+ bill (which would've sucked but I'd still pay it, we love our cat)

Love when life throws those curveballs. I was "relieved" when the engines worth of coolant in my garage last Friday was $235 to fix and not $2000, but it was worth it considering they shoe-horned me in almost immediately and I was on the road by 1230pm.

Vets though — Ugh. My pet insurance covers 80% of the bill over $400, but in five years, we've never had a bill breech that. So no payout. Plus her apoquel and an occasional cytopoint ($$$)... worth it though

Battery was fully dead last night, what's a good replacement? Was looking at the Costco interstates but they only have AGM and ours are flooded. I was doing a bit of digging and say I just need to code w OBDeleven to make an AGM work. Could anyone point me to a thread going over the coding in small words, preferably in crayon? Might have to pick up an AGM from there so I'm not stranded here soon.

EDIT: Going to Costco, grabbing an AGM H6 and follow Humble Mechanic's video, will report back with a hopeful success

Ok so I need the squad's input; just had an opportunity fall into my lap.
TLDR - I have the opportunity to have a clubsport bumper conversion 50% subsidized. Do I go this route or just have my NA bumper replaced.
Curious, would any of you take this deal? Work agreed to pay for my bumper to be replaced due to damage during a work call.
Should I just get it 1:1 replaced or would you take the opportunity to spring for the conversion..
Worth the hassle after JUST retrofitting fog lights onto the car?

I would take that deal, I originally was contemplating a Clubsport bumper conversion to go with my CS rear wing. Costs however, along with all the other things the GTI needed just piled up to too much money.

Yes worth it if you have the funds… it’s a very expensive conversion when you factory all the parts needed, and it’s a very good looking front end! An additional plus is locally you will probably never run into another mk7 with the conversion!

Looking for some tire advice.

The 8R came with some fairly new summers on it, Bridgestone Potenza S005. I have to do something, since I can't use summers during the winter here. This spring, I probably will get new wheels, just because. Since I had 3 other MQBs with 4 different sets of Neuspeeds, looking at something different. Thinking of the Titan7s T-R10s, which look identical to the RSe102's 🤣

Anyway. Tires. Since I actually don't mind the black Estoril's that came on the car, for the first time I'm considering a summer/winter set. So here's my opinions I'm looking at:

1) Buying a set of mid-range all-seasons, probably the General GMax AS-07. $563 or so after rebate. Having those mounted on the Estoril's, then come spring, have the S005 summers mounted on whatever new wheels I get. Then have a winter/summer set.

2) Buying a set of really good all-seasons, probably would try the PSAS4's this time over the DWS06+. $1075 or so. Have them mounted on the Estoril's, then in spring have them moved over to whatever wheels I buy, and just do what I've always done, and rock one set all year long

I guess the questions are really are the S005s good enough tires to keep and use during the summer? Or would a high end set of all seasons out perform them? And would a mid-range set of all-seasons be good enough for a New England winter? They've been getting milder and milder...

Thoughts?

I can't really say other than I prefer my DWS06 over the Pilot's I had. To be far though my alignment was out a little bit when I had the Pilot's. That was back when I was having wheel trouble and them sustaining bends from bad roads and knocking the alignment out of whack. I got the DWS06 right after the alignment correction. The Pilots are quieter at speed, but rainy weather the DWS06 felt more sure-footed. I have a fresh set of DWS06 Sport 02 with zero seat time in them, so we'll see.

Personally I am a habitual person and tend to keep doing what has always worked. I will however make a switch if it looks to be cost effective and logical.
