Broken end link won't sound like anything, the car will just understeer and have more roll when turning hard.

Worn end link (especially spherical types) you can hear a grinding from the outside when it loads up or you're turning near max lock. You can also hear a metallic or sound deadened "popping" over small quick bumps like from manhole covers. The steering in electric steer cars is just way too numb to really detect a worn or failing endlink before it gets to really faulty or broken.

Best way to test is to get under the car, loosen one up and try to violently move it around. It should have smooth action with zero play.

If you have noticeable grinding or metallic sliding noise all the time when turning the steering wheel it could be the strut bearing.
great breakdown VoH...much appreciated!

Bedded in my front brakes last weekend and let it sit all week. They felt great!

Went for a spin today with windows down and noticed a new rattling sound at all times down whose frequency is proportional to speed. It sounds somewhat metallic like a typewriter. I was hoping it was something caught in tire tread, but when I lightly press the brake pedal, the rattles approximately double in frequency. I used a CRC "Synthetic Brake Caliper Grease" on the moving parts per the instructions on the jar. I tried to get good coverage but maybe I applied too little? Maybe the high bed-in temperatures caused the lubricant to thin out? The pads are EBC Yellows.

Any ideas for common brake rattle causes or where to begin looking? Thanks

Step 1 is to ensure if the pads have spring clips or seat shims that they're seated properly and the pad isn't moving around.

Here's a weird one that I don't understand. I rotated my tires on Saturday. On the first drive afterwards, I got a TPMS warning that all tire pressures were low. Pre-rotation all of the tires were set to the door card recommended 37 psi. Those pressures were the same after the light came on. Knowing the car doesn't have in-wheel sensors and relies on ABS, how did it know that something changed if all the pressures were the same all the way around?

The only thing that I can think of is if the tires have different remaining tread life. That extra 1/32" may be detectable by the ABS in the differential wheel speeds.

I'll have to check, but the tires have only been on the car for about 6k miles and 9 months and still look brand new. The only difference I could find was that the rear wheels had valve stems with what looked like a metal sheathe around them and the fronts were just your typical rubber ones. Not sure if the extra few grams there could be enough.

It wouldn't be from a difference in weight. It would have triggered due to a difference in circumference from the front and rear tires and not resetting the TPMS after rotating the tires.

Is it safe to assume the TPMS was not reset?

It was not since I had done it so recently when I aired up before rotating. Figured all the PSI and circumference should be very close, but maybe the fronts did wear that much more than the rear in the 6k they've been on the car. I'll have to check with my depth gauge when I get home.

It doesn't take much of a difference in wheel speed from what was saved for the TPMS to trigger. I have had the TPMS trigger for no apparent reason. I verify the air pressure is correct, do a visual for a puncture and reset the TPMS.

Yeah, I've had it trigger on longer road trips where I'm assuming the tires (or air in them) have gotten warm enough to expand and trip it. Stopping and verifying and it was showing a few PSI high.

Another random question today. Thinking about cleaning up my install and making everything more simple. Currently have the ECS Flush Kit from my MKV on the MK7, which is a 10mm front and 15mm rear spacer. Thinking about putting some 15mm up front as well so there are no more mismatched lug bolt lengths and all that. Running OEM wheels from a MK6, so no crazy offsets or anything. Also considering just ditching the spacers entirely haha.

This. Just reset and you’re good

Don’t ditch the rear spacers…..looks SO sunken in without something

Yeah, I definitely agree. Sometimes I don't have time to do my own rotations, and others I just need to get them rebalanced at Discount and I'm kinda tired of having to explain how the spacers are staggered and that the lug bolts are the proper lengths haha.

Which is why I was thinking if all four corners are identical, it would be easier to explain and less likely to get messed up.
