Anyone have a write-up for harness bar install? The only vid I saw on YT worth a shit was a guy doing a Braum in a A3. I know it should be same but he wasnt clear in some areas on what he did. Guess I could figure it out once I get going on it.

Not sure if you already bought it, but no way I’d ever install a harness bar.

From a safety standpoint this is about all you can get away with on a street car.

The next step being a proper welded in roll cage, which shouldn’t be used on the street/without a helmet.

Kind of all or nothing. Because in an real accident a harness bar is more of a liability than a asset.

100% this.

There are a lot of images available online of crushed harness bars in an accident that have resulted in permanent spinal damage or death.

Factory systems are designed to be flexible including the belt, seat, airbags...

Proper harness setups are fully fixed and require bolting to the body, cage, and rails in some cases.

You get it!

You either need to play nice with the factory safety equipment (crumple zone included) or do away with it all entirely and go full gutted race car (cage, fixed back seat, HANS, fire suppression, ect).

Even worse than a harness bar I hate to see bolt in “half cage” or “roll bars”. In a high speed crash those pieces become projectiles or worse.

Unfortunately...

My friend's setup is:

1.8 gen3 (stock engine)
Garrett GT2260S (1.85-2.15 bar)
HFPP from 2lt gen3
RS7 plugs
stock coils
Mechanical WG - External Turbosmart
Snow Performance WMI with 630cc nozzle (100% meth inject)
iBoost Boost Controller

With pulling 4rth at 210 full WOT he heard a blown sound from the external...
Sunday his mechanic went at his garage and he saw these results!
Further info today...Monday

Bought it over a year ago. The horizontal bar I am trying to figure out how to adapt a quick disconnect of some sort. Even regular install, the bar detaches from the anchor points with 1 bolt per side. The idea was to throw the bar in and Schroth quick fits on days I go to the track.
