What are y'all paying for 40k/80k DSG service lately?

DSG service due shortly, carbon cleaning probably soon, AC is still making a racket, wheel bearing going bad, water pump ticking time bomb, time to replace rear brakes. Just trying to budget and plan for all of this fun.

If you have a way to lift the car evenly in the air, the DSG service isn't too bad to do yourself.

Best I could do is 4 jack stands, but my driveway isn’t level. I’d rather pay the labor for someone to do it right as long as it’s not outrageous.

For the DSG (and by extension VAQ) service, what kind of 'level' are we talking? I know this is pretty pedantic but are we talking four jackstands under the pinch welds and on relatively level ground, or can it just be all four wheels up on ramps of the same height (since the rear of the car is a little higher than the front)?

4 jack stands at the same height or 4 ramps of same height so long as the transmission is level. Part of the dsg fill is to drain the excess out the snorkel to ensure the correct level. If the transmission isn't level, more likely your fill level will be off.

Swapped over to Bilstein B16s on my Alltrack a couple weekends ago and set ride heights pretty high since I wasn't sure how much to expect them to settle. A few hundred miles and a weekend trip later, they're all settled, and yesterday evening a friend and I tried lowering the rear. Top lock nut came loose alright with the pair of provided wrenches, but when adjusting the bottom nut that sits on top of the spring, it's near impossible to move, and when it does spin, it spins the whole spring adjustment assembly with it. Any better suggestions than clamping the threads with something else or just removing the whole thing? Weird that I didn't have this issue with the cheap coilovers I was on before.

I've been reading up on my PVC. If I remove the oil fill cap while the car is running, is there such a thing as too much vacuum? It mentioned placing a sticky note over the opening. If I did that it would get sucked in immediately

EQT Stage 1 tune with a downpipe -- will it throw codes/awful idea? I'm gonna hold out for a stage 2 tune til the wallet recovers, but would prefer to do the hardware work before it gets unpleasant to work in the garage.

If the cat is moved from the factory location you will throw a code with stg 1 or stg 2. You can use a J bend O2 spacer to get rid of the code.

I ran a CTS catted DP with my stage one tune and a spacer for about a year before going stage 2.

Thanks for the heads up -- it's a Baun Performance GESI/EPA catted downpipe, so I believe I'll have compliance. If necessary a spacer isn't a big deal, just trying to make sure I don't have an overboost condition or anything of that nature.

Stock height? Shouldn’t rub. I’m on H&R springs with 18x8.5 et45. You’ll poke another 2mm.
