Could you imagine the TSA agent scanning that luggage?

"He went to germany and got....headrests?"
They probably rip them apart thinking there's narcotics stuffed in there

Has anyone ever heard of the AC system being covered separately from bumper-to-bumper warranty? I just dropped the car off at VW to have the aforementioned brake pedal looked at and mentioned the AC not running very cold lately, and they tried to charge me a diagnostic fee, claiming the AC system is only covered for 1 year. News to me if true, I asked for some documentation on that which they're allegedly "pulling together" for me.

What does the warranty booklet say?

Mine was only covered partially when i took it in for AC work/ like i still had to pay for them to recharge system with dye because they don’t cover that part, they covered the parts actually inside of the system

Wasn’t able to find anything supporting their claim. A short while after I asked for documentation they came back out and said they’d check it out for free “as a goodwill gesture.” Their tests came back normal so I guess everyone is happy.

Had oil in my coolant a while back and am flushing out the system. How many flushes till it’s “clear”? I’m at 2 and it’s still doo doo-ish.

@DSC808 can we not run a water hose through the system when the car is off if the system is open? Just flush the system till that’s all you see then clean everything up and put new coolant in?

Maybe I’m wrong here

From what I understand half of the coolant is internal and half is external. When you drain it (from the lower passenger side radiator hose) you only get about half of the coolant, the other half is still in the engine. Unless I stick the hose in the upper (driver side) radiator hose and drain it from.... I dunno. One of the hoses on the water pump?

@DSC808 im probably forgetting about the thermostats on these cars, probably need to remove that, open up the bottom hose and then flush that way then you can flush both radiator and motor? Obviously i haven’t Done it yet 😂

What are y'all paying for 40k/80k DSG service lately?

DSG service due shortly, carbon cleaning probably soon, AC is still making a racket, wheel bearing going bad, water pump ticking time bomb, time to replace rear brakes. Just trying to budget and plan for all of this fun.

If you have a way to lift the car evenly in the air, the DSG service isn't too bad to do yourself.
