As a follow on to my previous stupid questions around my is12 turbo failure on my 2018 GSW 6mt 4motion. @tigeo @Diggs24

After much debate, I decided to drop an IS20 in the car, on otherwise stock components. (Stock DP, stock IC)
APR has an is20 (93) stock DP file for the GSW, and my logic was that if this is similar to 'stage 1 GTI power, low TQ' maybe my stock GSW clutch would hold it just fine.
I was right. The car has been back together for a couple weeks now, and damn it feels good! Subtle increase in power, but very noticeable. It's nice to have the power hold up top too, in higher RPM.

From APR:
STAGE 3 IS20 (Factory DP)
87 AKI274 HP308 FT-LBS+104 HP +113 FT-LBS
91 AKI / 95 RON292 HP315 FT-LBS+123 HP +120 FT-LBS
93 AKI / 98 RON297 HP319 FT-LBS+127 HP+129 FT-LBS
100 AKI / 104 RON306 HP326 FT-LBS+136 HP +138 FT-LBS

Long story short, i'm very happy with the decision, the car/clutch feels great, and i'll put an upgraded stock mount IC in the car later this year.

Check out the is12 wastegate. I can't say for sure the sheered 'teeth' caused the failure, or that the wastegate rod failed as well. I don't think the wastegate rod is supposed to look like this, it's looks like a metal failure, then the wastegate ground it's teeth down (while sounding like a dying goat) just trying to work properly. odd. (thanks VW for the warranty denial, lol. doesn't seem like it's tune related)

"Subtle increase in power" - wow, it was "mind-blowing shit" to me when I did it!

I was stage 1 91 octane (91 because Cali) which was like 240/280. To drop in the is20 on factory DP brought me up an additional ~50hp and ~40ft/lb. The is12 would hit so early, but then just 'wheeze' out up top. The is20 just holds and holds and holds and feels great. IDK, for me it definitely wasn't an earth shattering difference, but i'm really happy I went this route given MT and the fact that the stock clutch seems good with the power.

I went from Uni's stage 1+ 93 which was also "mind blowing shit" over stock to their IS20 93 tune with a down pipe. It was crazy the additional torque to me.

Yeah stock to stage 1 was mind blowing for me for sure. I'm sure with the addition of a DP it would have felt a bit more pronounced. I'm stoked so far, though!

Any ideas how to fix this? I can't access my software info, anytime I try it loads a test menue (spelt like that) I have a factory mib2 standard with the 8"screen upgrade. No clue when this started to happen. All I did was press the menu button for about 3 seconds and when the normal system info page loads the test mode page loads over it half a second later.

Can i remove the under the hood insulation for more intake sound or does it serve some other purpose?
you'll do better with an open intake, TIP, and turbo muffler delete but...yea go ahead. The only purpose it serves is sound insulation.
