Cashier's/certified checks don't bounce because the funds are withdrawn at the point of issuance. That's why they are required for certain transactions and they aren't easy to fake. cb1111 got it correct above; certified check with notarized bill of sale. Protects all parties involved. If they won't take a certified check, you should not buy from them.
There is an issue with forged cashier's or certified checks, but the bank can call and verify validity.

When you date the bill of sale, include a time (right before it gets notarized) so that you can show when you took possession - so any traffic tickets he got on the way to the bank are his.

I'd go a step further and make them get t tags. I'd never sell a car with plates on it. Even if you can prove you sold it, it's still a headache to get resolved.

Can't the bank verify the cashiers check is good?
yes, there should be a phone number on the check you can call to verify. there have been cases where it's a fake number and the person on the other line is just pretending to be a bank, so it's not a bad idea to google the phone number first to verify it's a real bank phone #

or you could just meet at said bank and go inside together to confirm it

Hard to do when the bank (USAA) doesn't exist except for an ATM machine inside a CVS - but - the bank should have their own contact info for USAA and can verify.

Yep - temp tags are always the way to go. I always unscrew my plates and take them with me.

I’ll be installing my fmic this Saturday. I have the acc and parking sensors. From what I’ve gathered I won’t need to realign the sensors as long as I unplug my battery before disconnecting anything.

is this accurate?

Stupid question here. Is there potential for any ECU damage if I tuck my JB1 Rev 2 between the battery and ECU? I have read several posts about people doing this, but most of them appear to be JB Rev 1 units. With the Rev 2 it's an extremely tight fit, and I wouldn't want to put undue stress on the ECU or knock it out of any sort of proper alignment. Any danger here or am I just imagining an unlikely problem?

FYI, I've had it tucked between the battery and stock airbox, but need a new location after installing a new intake.

Why risk it? Slide the battery forward and put the unit in the slot behind the battery. Nice tight fit, ziptie it to the firewall and forget about it.

VW just told me the powertrain warranty on my 2016 GTI was for 3 years / 36,000 miles. Is that even possible as an option for the vehicle?

I was under the impression that year came with 5 year / 60k.

I'm pretty sure they're wrong. I have a 2016 as well and I could have sworn it was 3/36k bumper to bumper, 5/60k for power train.

6 - Something to do with fuel? :ROFLMAO:
7 - PCV Valve
8 - Timing/water pump cover?
