I searched but haven’t seen it discussed before.

Why is the base Golf S debadged?

Got my 2019 a few weeks ago and it just dawned on me that nowhere on the car is there anything indicating what model of car it is? No Golf, No S, No Nothing - just the front and rear VW logos.

I noticed Jettas, Passats, Tiguans, etc. are badged - why not the Golf?
Don't believe the S models are badged? Granted I have a Sportwagen. Just has Golf and TSI on the hatch.

No, I believe it now. It seems to be a one-off.

Based on other photos, the 2019 should have the rear Golf badge.

This is still the answer. Rental companies don't want anything on Carfax so they get repairs done outside the system.

No evidence of accident or repair from PPI. (And if there was a repair or replacement to the hatch, it’s a damn good match as I can’t tell the difference.)

yeah totally possible someone debadged it. Its an odd situation like, if a dealer replaced the hatch for accident, I figured they would add the badge. I wouldn't worry about it, go sleeper look
