My question is how long can I keep talking myself out of getting an OTS EQT stage 1 tune:rolleyes::p

After getting dyno tuned by EQT yesterday you should stop talking to yourself and do it. Can't recommend them highly enough.

If there's a visual inspection like shovel said then it doesn't matter anyways since you're going to need to reinstall the stock downpipe to pass, which means you'll want to go back to stock tune or stage 1.

Unless of course they somehow miss the aftermarket downpipe/exhaust

It depends on the inspection station. The one I use has never popped the hood to look. Of course, if your exhaust sounds like a race car, maybe they will.

Choose a small local independent station with a few bays in your town. Be the first in line in the morning. Be nice to the mechanic. Don't go in the last few days of the month or the first few days.

I passed with no modification. I did go to a small shop run by a couple nice guys, they've done some work for me in the past and have always been cool which is why I drove the extra distance, I think this is good advice regardless of what you've done to your car.

So the analog speedo goes up to 160. I haven't been that fast....yet.

But question is, does the electronic speedo keep going past 160?

No judging. This is the stupid question thread.

But if you were to hit 280, would the electronic speedo keep going to >280

Any reason to get an OBDEleven if you’re not going to tune?

You don't need OBDeleven to tune. The only reason to get OBDeleven is if you want to make changes to operational things. Has nothing to do with tuning.

one of my fav mods....it does a bunch of minor things.

Factory alarm, 4 blink convenience, windows up/down after door open, windows up/down with remote, adjust car mpg reading...etc.

and Jim is correct, it has nada to do with tune.

Hi, I just bought a 2016 golf tsi. I went in for an oil change and they changed my oil filter as well. My epc light and engine light have been coming on and we can’t figure out the problem, could the place screwed something up while doing the oil change? The car doesn’t lose power but when I hit 120km/h the epc turns on and then turns off after restarting the car but the engine light stays on.

When you say we can't figure it out who are you referring to? I would go to a dealer or reputable indie shop to diagnose it.

The dealer/mechanic I got the car from. I’m going to have to take it back in tomorrow and hopefully they get it done. Was just thinking it might be from the oil change I got done elsewhere.

Nope nothing to do with an oil change. I hope the mechanic is well versed in VW 's. An EPC light can be tricky to diagnose because there's so many potential reasons for it. Make sure if they tell you that you need a specific part that you won't have to pay for it if it doesn't fix the problem.
