MK7 R Heavy Steering

Going to bump this thread because my mk7 GTI has started having the same issue where the power steering will get heavy in the middle of a drive and I have the codes for the HVAC and the ground terminal. I measured the charging voltage at 13.8V but stationary without the engine running it was 11.7V which is a bit low. Going to try replacing the battery and doing the adaptation for it and I'll update afterwards.

Just to give an update to this thread, it turned out to be my alternator pulley. I replaced only the pulley (not the entire alternator) ~1.5 months ago and have had no problems since.

I should have read this entire thread before going to VW earlier this but I have the exact same problem as you Kale.. my 16 GTI PP power steering started to act up around 3-4 months ago around 83,000 km. It will come on randomly during a drive but when I shut the car off and turn it back on it will go away for awhile.

Brought it in to VW yesterday and today they managed to find battery is a fault so next week i'm booked in again for battery replacement. Hope it's just that lol
