Mk7 Exhaust Tech. How to get the sound you want.

I’m also running the catted CTS Turbo downpipe. I went with the Vibrant 17950 resonator in the stock resonator location and left the axle back stock. I like the sound, it’s definitely louder than stock and sounds great inside the car. It’s pretty quiet under 2800 but it gets decently loud past 3000 but not obnoxious. I personally think it sounds pretty good in terms of tone and loudness. Hope this helps!

From what I gather the stock resonator doesn't do anything and the placement of the vibrant the PO installed doesn't do anything either lol I assumed with a sport cat a stock resonator and a vibrant the car would be tame enough that's why I picked up the afe axel back. My stage 2+ mk5 gti only had the sport cat and one muffler. That car was not loud had no drone and sounded great imo. From what I've been reading on this thread the mk7 is not at all the same animal.

Did the MK5 have integrated exhaust manifold into the block? That's the MK7s issue. You can't solve it with any exhaust tricks. You can only make it quiet as possible.

@nebgti please send a picture of the exhaust setup from bottom if you can. im interested to see how they fit stock resonator and vibrant resonator. I just put on Rev9 Catback and I wouldn't think there is much room for both so im interested to see this. I would also think its very quite. If you go to puton axel back it should make it louder (more volume).

When I deleted the resonator I got a little more drone and a little more volume.

PO told me it is a vibrant so honestly I have no idea kinda looks like a small muffler not a resonator

No I don't believe so, it had the stock k03 so it had a manifold

Does look like a small muffler. The resonator is the big long one up front. I bet it is nice and quiet. Would happily trade. Here is mine, enjoy the crotchshot.

Hmm that is def not the vibrant res, it is another muffler which is odd. I would say, if you can go to a muffler shop, delete both the oem res, and mid muffler, and install the Vibrant 17950
Which looks like this, and add the axel back:

after driving on the highway a bit, I think im going to pickup the Vibrant 17950. Like I don't want the car to be quiter at all, I would like it a little louder, but the rattles, vibrations, drone is a bit bad

Its just odd how oem 2.5 with dp and oem muff,there was 0 drone (With Res delete)

Now dp, 3" catback with 2 4" res, it drones like crazy. Maybe the clamps arn't tight enough idn. I was thinking with 2 res it was actually going to be quite
