If you buy basically any downpipe other than MAP you can remove the reducer and run 3” seamlessly to the 17950.

So yes ideally do it all at the same time
Yeah, MAP says they're working on a 3" extension, not sure why they don't offer it already since they have to weld a reducer on.

I just didn't expect so much drone with the stock DP from a system that says it's designed for little to no drone. I just hope moving to a different resonator won't impact the nice low sound signature.

Another quick question Jake, is there going to be much sound difference between catted downpipes, MAP, IE, etc? Really want to keep a factory cat posistion for the sake of cat warm up, and because I'm running a JB4 so I won't have the 02 sensor coded out.

No sound isn’t much different, although I feel like you’ve been misinformed a bit on CEL.

Sorry if this has been answered already, but this thread is long AF.

Does a resonator delete actually improve sound quality/loudness on an otherwise stock exhaust? I don't want to get a dp just yet as my 18R is well, a 2018 and has tons of warranty which I don't want to fuck with.

I'm going to be getting the exhaust tips swapped in the spring for something more aggressive looking, and while the exhaust is off I'm thinking of getting the shop to do a res delete.

Is it worth while to do or just leave it? Oh, and this would be on a valved oem muffler system.

Thanks!

Long thread. I have a quick question, I got a depo racing downpipe and definitely want to reduce drone with the long vibrant resonator Jake recommends. The thing is I have a stock catback and will likely keep that unless I'm compelled to do otherwise. Does the vibrant resonator replace the stock resonator completely? I.e. is it the same length and does the stock resonator come out in a single section? I don't want to have to pay for any welding if I don't have to and this way I could buy the 2.5" vibrant resonator and be done with it.

Resonator delete makes a very minimal difference.

With that info in hand it’s up to you if it’s worth it, but personally I’d say no.

You can code the valves to be open all the time for free and see a bigger difference, provided you have VCDS or OBD11

Not only will the 2.5” version not fit on the OEM 2.6” tubing there’s also several other reasons why it’s not that simple. Most notably the overall length is wildly different and the OEM resonator has an exhaust hanger on it.

Feel free to email me if you have any questions. Jlbaun26@gmail.com

This may be an odd request, but after installing a catted DP, is there a cat-back setup that would be quieter than stock while maintaining at least 2.5" or OEM-sized tubing? Has anybody added a muffler or resonator to the stock exhaust in that well beside the gas tank?

Not an odd request at all. Shoot me an email if you’d like I’d be happy to explain

Hey Jake,

Not sure if you've played around with that idea, but would a 2nd inline muffler reduce the sound significantly, or is it not worth messing with?

For stealthy performance you can’t beat the 17950 and the stock suitcase muffler.

Adding a bunch of mufflers is just an expensive way to come close to as quiet
