The 17950 will absolutely tame his awe track with a downpipe.

Vulticgti having no muffler makes a big difference, AWE actually uses a really big muffler so it’ll be nothing like your set up.

Due to the massive AWE muffler that set up is usually too tame for most people (still better than drone though)

Didn't know it was so massive. Seemed pretty medium sized. Obviously smaller than OEM rear suitcase that I'll be going. I had my fun with the loud this week. Gonna try and preserve my hearing.

Awesome video, described that perfectly, like a sonic bomb going off at 2k rpm.

Did it make the actual volume and noise a lot quieter too?In a perfect world I am hoping it gets rid of the drone but keeps the loud violent noise on WOT.
In the video it still sounds pretty good.

Yes it’s does make it quiter, that what I was getting at about AWE’s massive muffler making things too tame.

Again, still better than ear bleeding drone lol (and it still sounds really good, just not very loud)

Now I wish i started with a catless DP..lol.
Oh well, I can't stand the drone so I don't have a choice.

The 7.5 muffler on your set up is just as loud as what he’ll end up with. You’ll love it after running the muffler delete all week.

Hey Jake

I currently have a Unitronic 3" catted downpipe with the AWE track exhaust.
The boomy drone at 1800-2100rpm is unbearable. Is the best thing to add to this still the Vibrant 17950? Ideally I want to keep the violent throaty noise especially when WOT 3k+ rpm but this booming drone on the highway is driving me crazy..lol. Hoping this res tones down the drone but keeps the sound.

The AWE piping is 3" I believe so it should be as easy as cutting the pipe out and welding this reasonator in, right?

Appreciate any help!

After getting my muffler back on, the car is very quiet. No drone whatsoever but now car isn't much louder than stock. It has a better tone to it but doesn't get too loud at all. It is refreshing but sometimes I wish it would rip really loud as well.

was my first thought. I do want the cutout placed after the midpipe though so not sure about wiring and vacuum hoses and all that.

Your car is louder outside than you’d ever realize unless you let someone else drive it. For mk7 to be loud in the car it’s gotta ear bleeding outside.

QTP electronic cut outs are higher end (kinda expensive), but probably the route I’d take if I were to do one.

ECS sells some via las Ebay cut outs already assembled as a kit, but if you’re gonna go the cheap vacuum operated route you might as well save some money and buy the parts individually.

Yea feeling lazy and broke and there's higher priority things to do. Going to enjoy the peacefulness during the wintertime and will review and gather energy to do the work down the line as maybe a custom project/solution anyways.

Sorry, this might have been covered in one of the many pages in this thread - I tried my best to read through.

I'm just starting to look at the exhaust.
Currently no tune, stock DP.

I'd like more exhaust note so the easiest route is a muffler delete. If I swap to the vibrant res and go 3" at the res would this have any drawbacks with using the stock downpipe?

I don't need a dp as I don't see myself going above a stage1 tune.

Are there any straight through mufflers that could be recommended for a better exhaust note?

Just do an OEM CSS muffler. Simple bolt on and great sound ??

Do either a custom muffler delete (Louder and some drone) or the CSS as recommended above.

In case you ever do go DP (you probably will want to eventually) definitely take digs advice and keep the OEM muffler as I had to put mine back on after DP and Vibrant res. I had a muffler delete and it sounded poopoo.
