I highly doubt that will be effective with an aftermarket downpipe, but can't say I've had any personal experience with them.

A member just gained 13whp by adding a cutout to his down pipe & tune car, so the stock catback seems like it is most definitely a restriction.

Exactly where you have yours located. Looks like the borla is 14 inches long vs the BB which is 16 inches long. Looks like it would be tight...Do you think it would fit? Also, is there a reason why you chose an offset inlet/outlet for the muffler vs a centered in/out?


I want a deeper tone and get my crackles back :)

Jake, I'm planning on getting MAP catted (and resonated depending what resonator they use) DP. I read in you original post that the DP effects drone, but does it have any noticeable effect on volume? Having a muffler delete, I'm concerned the addition of a DP may make it unbearable.

It would be very tight, I used the offsets I did to match the available space in that spot. A straight up shot would show it better but the clearance is very tight in that zig zag, especially coming out the back past the rear sub frame

I'd suggest a much smaller muffler to regain cracks and pops. I still have some but not much

It'll be a ton louder, like I said the stock DP is like holding a pillow over a speaker

I had a muffler delete and stock resonator in place when I first installed my catted DP. It was horrible. Sounded like a Honda when I wasn't in boost and droned like hell.

You could try with the Vibrant resonator I suggested 17930 in place of the stock one so it at least wouldn't drone but it would still be very loud. You'll probably want a muffler to bring it down to a reasonable note

Yeah, that's kinda what I thought. I'm hoping the map dp comes with that resonator, but if not looks like I'll be getting a non resonated dp and buying the vibrant. I'll try it and see. Luckily I do have a cat back from my old mk6 2.5 golf sitting around with a muffler, so worse comes to worse I'll have to find a shop to chop it up and add it it.

That works, I'm curious what it would sound like with just the 17930, but not curious enough to cut up my new catback ha

Hopefully someone will give it a try

With just the resonator and dp? I'll give it a shot whenever I order it. Prob gonna be a while since I gotta save up the money
