By the way, I thought I would paste the procedure that worked for me regarding the Steering Angle Sensor off of the VCDS forum:

This may be useful to someone that runs into the same problem.

Engine at idle.
[44-Steering Assist]
Rotate steering wheel 90deg left then center, 90deg right then center so steering wheel is level, front wheels pointed straight ahead.
[Security Access - 16]
Enter 19249
[Basic Settings - 04]
In Basic Settings, pick [MAS00815] Steering angle sensor
[Go!]
Rotate steering wheel all the way to the left, hold firmly against end stop for 5 seconds.
Rotate steering wheel all the way to the right, hold firmly against end stop for 5 seconds.
Center steering wheel, front wheel straight ahead.
Note: our testing of this would still be "Running", never got a message of "Finished Correctly"
[Stop]
Now a bunch of error messages and warnings will appear on the cluster, what messages you get can vary based on how the vehicles is equipped.
[Done, Go Back]
Rotate steering wheel all the way to the left, hold firmly against end stop for 5 seconds.
Rotate steering wheel all the way to the right, hold firmly against end stop for 5 seconds.
Center steering wheel, front wheel straight ahead.
Now most warning messaged in instrument cluster should be removed.
[Close Controller, Go Back - 06]
Cycle the ignition off for 10 seconds.
Several other control modules will flag DTCs, "Databus" type codes that can now be cleared out.

You can only have maps in one or the other unless you have Discover Pro infotainment (the 9.2” screen with no knobs.)

When on the map screen in the AID, press the “ok” button on the right side of the steering wheel. That should expand the maps between the dials.
This is mostly correct, but there are MIB II Discover Pro units that are not MIB 2.5 (9.2" screen). I would guess the MIB II (non 2.5) is a bit more prevalent than the MIB 2.5 units.
There are even MIB I discover pro units, though I suspect you'll never see one in the states.

That’s super interesting, I didn’t know that. I thought MIB 2 was either composition media or discover media in the states. This would have been pre-facelift cars with the 8” matte display that would have been MIB2 discover pro, yes? To my knowledge I’ve never seen a facelift 8” glass discover pro system.

@Cuzoe I remember reading one of your posts where you outlined how to get the cover art to show up on the AID. I can't seem to locate that thread now. Would you remember off the top of your head where I would find that option? If I remember correctly, it was a long coding option that was only available with the full listing.

I always check the box to show experimental coding. You might see a neat option worth trying and if it doesn't work you just undo it, haha.

Anything that shows only in experimental just means it hasn't been verified by enough people for the folks at VCDS to confidently label it. It doesn't mean that you are doing something that is "unsupported," if that makes sense.

I think the 8-in matte display came in some passat's here in the states, but I don't know if they are discover pro. A pre facelift golf outside of the US with an 8-in matte screen would have been Discover Pro, I assume.

I don't know the extent of à la carte options VW offers outside of North America though... technically the screens aren't a guaranteed indicator of anything other than the generation of MIB. You could have any of the MIB 2 screens (6 inch matte, 8 inch matte or 8 inch glass) and have MIB2 Composition Media, Discover Media or Discover Pro. Likewise, the 5-in screen could be any level of MIB1.

The only screen that is a good indication is 9 inch glass, which is MIB 2.5, which only came as Discover Pro. In hushed corners of some forums you'll find discussion of MIB 2 being modified to use the 9.2 inch screen, but we're not in one of those hushed corners, lol.

:ROFLMAO: I still have dreams that 9 inch glass with the single knob... damn you for making me know about that!

Good morning all and happy Thanksgiving :)

A couple of faults reappear. They don't seem to affect the functionality of the vehicle in any way. I clear them successfully but after a while they reappear.

Hopefully someone has had this issue and found a solution.

Erase it from your mind, as I have! You shouldn't be touching that anyway since the power symbol still rotates. Be civilized and use the steering wheel controls.

@mannymoda Are you positive these faults were but present (even intermittently) before the AID?

If so... go through your AID long coding (with experimental) and then through adaptations as well, noting anything you see that has to do with ACC and Emergency Stopping... Almost certainly something is coded as not installed or not active.

Does it matter if I Use a 791A or 791B cluster? Seller said the only difference is manufacturing date.

And do you guys have any experience with a cockpit off Aliexpress? not the knockoff, Im talking about Chinese OEM.

Yes the manufacture date is different. The B units were manufactured later... So they have later software/hardware revision. There is no guarantee an A unit can be upgraded to a B, if you care about that.

If you have a later Mk7 the B unit is the better choice. Can't help with regard to the Chinese OEM units.

The install I just completed was with a B unit from China via AliExpress. Dealer had no issues coding it for Imo/CP.

From what I understand, if you have a mk7.5, the B version is the way to go. Price difference is not worth going for the earlier HW/SW.

Specifically, the part I purchased was 5G1 920 791B

I am positive that these faults were not present prior to the AID install.

I will go through the coding again. Must be a rogue bit somewhere in there :)

Or do what I did which is replace the volume knob on your screen with the tuner knob (sans symbol) from a different screen!
