MK7.5 Digital Cockpit retrofit

Any word or luck with this yet. Definitely want to do it if it is possible. We seem to be the odd ball last body style and interior but started transitioning some items to more like the mk8 such as dropping most.
Sorry for the big delay; life got in the way of my testing.

I gave the MK8 cluster a shot and although it turns on, nothing is recognized; by nothing I mean not even the tachometer which worked on the original digital cockpit (5G1920791B) for the MK8 without CP and adaptations being programmed. Which leads me to the major problem which is ODIS doesn't seem able to speak to it. It could be my interface but it's the same one I used for the 791B cluster, and I got much further with that than this.

Good morning! I saw almost all the pages of this post but there is something not clear for me can someone help?

I have a US GTI SE with MIB2 NO/NAV with Fender audio, I ordered the AID from https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002836189112.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.116d4c4dfwRDTG

Is not clear for me if the yellow optic cable that came with my AID will work since is not a Y optic cable. Since I do not have navigation I know that maps are not going to show, however I want to get all the radio stations and everything that could possible be displayed as a non nav vehicle.

Do I need the Y cable? is this cable going to work?

"Lamenting" is an interesting way to put it. I would be more then happy to share how my issues were resolved.

First, on my 2017 R I installed "Digital Cockpit" Instrument Cluster 5G1-920-891-A and Dash Trim for "Digital Cockpit" Instrument Cluster 5G0-857-189-B-AAH purchased from https://www.shopdap.com.

Optical Cable purchased from:

A few members that had similar issues did message me privately and all of us had the issue resolved through a VW dealership. The cluster has to be programmed by VW as explained in the links below using ODIS for the immobilizer. From what I know, only a VW dealer can do this and from what I gathered the ABS issues that a few noted, ended up being resolved by their VW dealership. None were given a detailed explanation of how it was corrected. Just that they had to perform a different programming technique. One had a steering rack replaced.

Greetings! Which VW dealership did the ODIS coding on your vehicle and what was the labor rate, hours required? I'm in the Aurora/Naperville area and have the AID upgrade kit through Eurozone Tuning [brand new OEM AID assembly, OEM piano black trim bezel, wiring harness (Y-MOST splitter)]. Was your search for a VW service department lengthy or did you quickly find a willing one? I'd prefer to find a dealership that has undertaken this process previously . . .

Mostly talking out my ass since I have no hands on experience, but that looks to be the same cluster that is in the new GLI Autobahns. Since it's used in a VW of the same Gen as the MK7/MK7.5, I'd imagine there would be a higher chance of it working.

But again, this is all just blind assumptions.

Got my retrofit done this week, scanning the car with ODB Eleven shows the following code.:

Instruments
Fault Code U111000
Function Restriction due to communication interruption

Any ideas?

Same; I believe the part # is 2G0920790A: https://www.cars-equipment.com/en/shop/instrument-clusters/oem-2g0920790a-virtual-cockpit-lcd-for/ Judging from the photos it appears the clips for the trim are arranged differently so my sense is the biggest hurdle is it probably doesn't physically fit but would love to be proven wrong.
2G0920790A is Immo 5C whilst MK7 is Immo 5A.
Keys won't be recognized by the cluster at all.

There is another part number for it(New look but old immo).

You need gateway of MK8,then it will work.
But forget it.
You car is immo 5A while Mk8 is Immo 5C.
Keys must be changed,so is Engine ECU.

Any chance of using the cluster from the 2021 gli on our cars? I believe the 2021 is a different part number than 2019 and 2020 guessing because the 2021 does not have most similar to the 2021 gti.

Non MOST MIB3 clusters usually use part numbers that end as 320.
In Europe we dont have them on Golf but have on Passat.
3G0920320.

Its like 791 EU and 891 for NAR for old cockpit part numbers.
