Missing Engine Cover ?

I always park in my garage after every drive and pop the hood up and put my garage fan pointing at the engine. Better than leaving it to bake for hours. Think about it all those parts in the engine bay are spending much less time in really hot temps... the plastics should technically last longer.

That is what I do also, could be my OCD here?

Lmao I've popped the hood and let it cool off in the garage a couple of times this summer too.

Pour ice cold water on the engine and turbo. The extreme cooling will help too.
I also replace the oil after each drive because fresh oil makes a cooler engine and I do a coolant flush after every drive because new coolant is better for cooling.

Seriously though the cars are tested in extreme temperature areas and things get replaced or remanufactured depending on the results of those tests. So I believe the engineers have settled any long term heat issues with under the hood after shut down. I mean if you are racing it's good to cool off with hood open and the parking brake off and getting as much cooling in there as possible. But with everyday driving shut the car off and go enjoy your life and stop worrying. I mean in the end it's a VW Golf not a Ferrari Daytona you are driving.

Yeah I’m sure car manufacturers have our best interest in mind lmao why do you think everything is plastic these days it’s so it breaks down faster and we gotta spend money on all those crappy plastic parts. Common knowledge says that plastic and heat doesn’t get along, idk where you got the fluid changing part from cause that’s just retarded. It literally takes 5 seconds to pop the hood and put a fan in front of it lol....go enjoy your life and stop trying to make people feel bad for taking care of their car

well ive had my car for 5 years, never once popped the hood after driving, and im in az, and my plastic hasnt melted due to extreme heat, i also have the hood insulation, and drive as fast as i legally can every time i drive, very well engineered car
edit
maybe if i tracked it, id let it run a while before i shut it down

And how many failures of plastic parts have you heard of?

Does the water pump/thermostat housing count?
IIRC, VW has had waterpump issues from before plastic was invented  - and that certainly has nothing to do with underhood temps - it could have to do with engine temps, but popping the hood and pointing a fan in there makes no difference.
