MIB1 Discover Media - Navigation issue

Hey - hoping someone can help here...

I have a 2015 Mk7 GTI from the US & I am based in Poland. I have been struggling since the 4th of July to get my navigation system to work - I have the 'small screen' MIB1 Discover Media.

Downloaded the latest maps from Volkswagen for Europe, formatted the SD perfectly and did the paste of new maps 100% according to instructions. Inserted the SD into the slot, it loaded for about 10 minutes and then said "The navigation data is not valid". I then tried it in my friend's 2015 Golf R (with MIB1 - big screen) and the maps worked perfectly.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Do you have any solutions for me to try? Also, anyone know how to update the firmware on the radio - it was last updated in 03/2015?

Ofcourse it wont work.
You have US FEC and you want EU maps...not going to work.

Okay cool - I’ve heard about a solution where the region needs to be changed in VCDS/OBDeleven & then a firmware update needs to be done in order for EU maps to work.

Would exchanging the infotainment system in my glove box with an EU version work?

Yes,and i also suggest MIB2 retrofit
You need MIB2 screen and glovebox unit.
