MIB I, Golf 2015 - is it carplay (wired/wireless) able?

as title says.
i have a golf *2015*, 1.4TSI. great car.

would REALLY like to enable carplay.
For me wired is very good, wireless excellent.

attached are screen captures from the hidden menu.

1. Does the latest upgraded software bring CarPlay capabilities to this unit? if this a locked feature i can open up using OBD?
2. if the answer to (1) is NO, what are the least involved, most cost-effective solutions?


I have a unit in the glovebox where CD, USB and SD cards bays exist, if it matters...

yes, physical buttons + volume and station (?) knobs.

*just saw i stated 2012 in the message - it's 2015 model.

MIB1 does not support CarPlay or Android Auto. There are external 'boxes' that you can get (often from AliExpress) that add support for it, but I have no experience with them. The alternative is to replace the MIB1 unit with a MIB2 unit, which would require that the display and trim be changed since you have MIB1 standard.
