You're welcome Gti jake, and it makes servicing so much easier. You'll definitely appreciate the ease of leaving the bottle on the floor and using the inlet and outlet hose to route the fluid from bottle to fill point.

The only downside that i can note is since the gearoil is thicker than the average fluid, it took some effort to squeeze the pump mechanism.

I've always previously used redline shockproof in my previous manuals. This time around i used motul gear 300 75w90. Its definitely an improvement over the OEM fluid. The trans doesn't have that whine sound when decelerating in traffic.

I'm very curious how the transmission fluid does in the colder temps.

I'll report back with some feedback. It should be cooling off soon here on Long Island, NY.

But

Are you certain only Fuchs 75w meets the specs and not 75w80? Or is it more than just the viscosity rating? Thanks Dave!

Without re-quoting my whole post, there is only a part number given by VW, this is:-G052512A2.

According to the oil company manufactures this is a fixed grade of 75w.....NOT 75w80, 75w85, 75w90, 75w95 etc, etc.

Fuchs selection for our cars is the same but I have locked the selection to USA GTI:-

Titan Sintofluid SAE 75w...
https://www.fuchs.com/uk/en/special/product/product/13302-titan-sintofluid-fe-sae-75w/

Fuchs recommendations (meets these standards:)

VW TL 521 71 (G 052 171 A1/A2)
VW TL 521 78 (G 052 178 A2)
VW TL 525 12 (G 052 512 A2)
VW TL 525 27*(G 052 527 A2)
VW TL 726*(G 052 726 A2/ G 055 726 A2/ G 060 726A2/ G 070 726 A2)

I have checked various sites inc .co.uk & .com for Motul & they do not have any MK7 Golf listed in their product selector app....I presume because they do not make any 75w gear oils....& the other gear oils do not meet the G 052 512 A2 number ...

Here is well respected UK oil seller & this is a list of 75w oils....I have not double checked every oil for the G 052 512 A2 number ...

Various people on this thread have been fitting the WRONG oil...these gearboxes are designed to run with a thin fixed grade oil.

Thanks Dave I stand corrected.

Interestingly, Fuchs only mentions LSDs in their LS fluid. Do you think those of us with a mechanical LSD could benefit or is it better to maintain oem spec?

The gearbox requires the 75w....the Fuchs LSD 75w90 is NOT to the VW spec for our cars...it is up to the LSD manufacturers to design their LSD to run in the OEM gearbox oils...

If in doubt contact your LSD manufacturer & state that the gearbox requires 75w as per VW spec....can their LSD run in it???

I'll just add some more info which is confusing to say the least...& contradicts what VWUK & dealer have stated...

Basically that my MQ250 QZS gearbox requires G 052527A2 (high performance gearbox fluid as like the GTI & R)...which appears to be a 75w80 fluid...& not the G052512A2 which appears to be a 75w fluid...

However I used Fuchs:- Titan Sintofluid FE SAE 75w which meets both standards..

https://www.fuchs.com/uk/en/special/product/product/13302-titan-sintofluid-fe-sae-75w/

I just wish VWUK would get its act together...

We had a few days where it was in the 20s in the morning and i will admit the very first shift out of neutral into 1st gear requires more effort but every shift after that feels normal again. At no point did i feel that the fluid was too thick.

As for all the warnings given from fellow enthusiasts who've used the fluid previously, i was expecting it to be alot worse.
