Magnet on OEM Drain Plug?!?

Hey y'all I just did my first oil change on a 2018 R that I picked up and saw something strange. The drain plug came out as shown in the first picture. I got excited thinking I had a magnetic drain plug but it turns out it was just a loose magnet that was stuck to the steel tool. Once I removed the bit from the plastic plug the magnet fell off. Am I crazy or has this magnet just been floating around in my oil pan?

I'm thinking to toss the magnet and just install the OEM plug but wanted to see if maybe I'm missing something or if anyone had an idea of what is going on here.

Five years ago I tried a magnetic drain plug from shopdap.com. Seemed like a good idea. Next time I changed my oil, no magnet. Apparently the glue holding it was NG. I was able to fish it out of the oil pan with a magnetic telescoping pickup tool. They gave me a credit and stopped selling them.
