Hi all...I have a question about my MK7 thats baffling a few garages so far. Golf MK7, 1.6 TDi, Automatic.

The other week, I was driving to work and, what i believe to be, the engine management light came one (the engine symbol with the fan on the front) so we hooked it up to my mates computer and it said Glow Plug 2 was on its way out.

Took it to a guy i've been going to for 8/9 years and he changed 3 out of the 4 glow plugs (he said he didn't need to change the glow plug with the pressure sensor). I collected it and drove off. About 10 yards the squigly glow plug light came on (not sure if thats the correct term lol) and the car went into limp mode.

I drove it back to him and he hooked it up to the computer and it came up with P0341 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Range/Performance, Turbocharger/Supercharger Boost Control A Module Performance and also P0402 EGR Excessive Flow Detected.
Along with the new glow plugs, a brand new genuine VW Camshaft Position Sensor was ordered and fitted but that error hasn't gone away, it's still there.

Took it to a friend of mine who works on Aston Martins and stuff and he believes the glow plugs are causing all the issues as the light isnt on until i've driven for a bit and had to put my foot down. The timing of the gear changes is all wrong and he believes its down to pressure issues. He believes a forced regen could fix the issue...however....

I took it to another garage today and he's adamant its nothing to do with the glow plugs. He believes I need ..... a new turbo, a new EGR cooler, replace 2 injector seals, another new camshaft position sensor, new camblet kit with waterpump....all totally around £2200.

I just don't understand what gone off....does anyone have any possible clue as to whats happened?

Would it be worth going to VW for a diagnostic? I'm assuming they'd tell me the same issues he has but charge more for a fix.

I love my car and don't want to get rid, I just dont wanna be spending 2k if I can help it for something that nobody knows if gonna fix it 100%.

Thanks for reading.

Have you tried posting this on the Ross-tech forum?...They might know a bit more. You really could do with a fault code scan using VCDS & posting than scan onto the Ross-tech forum...

There is a VCDS owners map/list on the Briskoda forum in the UK...maybe contact a nearby member for beer tokens etc?...

https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewe...=0&ll=53.305416231522,-1.1528782359374867&z=7

Take it to a good VW specialist of the VW dealer if they have a good reputation....they will know more about these engines than somebody who works foo Aston Martin!...

I would say a forced regen is on the cards....if the glow plugs were faulty they would light up the dash first as they should & then NOT go out......boost control is controlled by air pressure in the engine & exhaust....blocked DPF will affect the exhaust....

Cheap diesel & short runs will kill a diesel engine & block the DPF....
