Looking for more turbo sounds

I hear a distinct turbo whine under light load, since upgrading the engine mounts. On heavy throttle, the exhaust drowns it out. Never heard anything but intake noise with an open intake.

I wonder if a stage 1 would help making the woosh more audible since it’ll be spinning faster

Yes...more boost equals more noise.

If it's pushing more boost the DV will have to deal with more pressure when you shut the throttle, so it should make more noise.

True but that's not he is looking for. He wants the loud whoosh like you can get with an aftermarket DV valve. But the OEM DV is the best that's why I suggested a spacer on the OEM DV valve.

You won't hear the spool with every turbo. I couldn't hear it with my IS20 or IS38. I can hear it briefly with my TPC20.

With an open intake you can absolutely hear the spool on an IS20.
