im not sure on how strong the OZ wheels are...but i think you can google the reviews from other people...but i think they are quite durable since not many people really complain about them.

im also hoping for the wheels and tires expert to join this discussion...i got lots of questions too haha

you can definitely fit wider tires on the stock wheels. not by much though 235 and "maybe" 245

already bought a 235/40/18 for my car will fit them after few months.

So how do they fit? Is there room on the rim as is? Or for larger tyres, is the sidewall angled outwards? Wouldn't there be a anger of the tyre popping off the rim under load?

as I said I will fit it in few months becaust I will travel and don't want to leave the car standing on the new tires for few week without driving; haven't fit the tires yet. but I'm pretty sure it'll fit I know people with ko4 who track their cars on 235/40/18. I don't think there is higher load than tracking a car on an internationl F1 circuit ;) 235 is no big deal!! 245 however I'm not sure how that would end up. you might need to stretch the tires to fit

Don't forget Braid wheels. Light, super strong, well priced, many color options. I'll be getting a set of 15" wheels for winter and 18" for summer.

According to Braid, their wheels are unbreakable.

It is very important to know that you don't buy wheels that are heavier than the factory wheels which i believe is the Santiago 19" which weighs roughly 28lbs (12.5kg) so that you don't damage your bearing etc. (i found out the hard way in the past )

Wait you said the stock wheel are 28lbs but you said the stock wheels are 19." The stock GTI wheels are 18" so are we talking these wheels?

What i meant to say was that the heaviest option from the factory would be the Santiago wheels which comes in 19"...the one in your pic is the Austin wheels 18"

sorry for not being clear :D

I'm planning on getting Enkei PF01 18" wrap it on Michelin Pilot AS3 W-Y Speed rated when spring time comes. But I like the austins, better stock wheels compared to mk6 gti's for sure.
