Exciting update that I am finally getting around to completing. Have wanted to upgrade the steering wheel for a while now, but dont like the look of the like giant aggressive molds or big carbon fiber sections. They dont look OEM to me. I wanted a wheel that was a bit more mature where someone stepping into the car would think "wow I didn't know VW's could be this nice" rather than "wow he put a fucking crazy aftermarket wheel on here."
So I did a ton of research and landed on
Royal Steering Wheels after seeing other members here and on Vortex recommend them. You can customize virtually every aspect, so I submitted an order for a wheel that was slightly thicker, had 10 and 2 grips, and had AMG Perforated Leather on the sides. and have to say: I absolutely LOVE this upgrade. I think it is my single favorite thing I have done to the car so far. You really dont realize how much upgrading a wheel will change your experience driving. Highly recommend to anyone on the fence and highly recommend you check out Royal Steering Wheels.

But the fun didn't stop there....
I also wanted to get a set of longer paddle shifters, but really didn't like the look of any of the ones out there. S2T looked nice but they were very expensive and honestly did not seem worth it for a piece of painted metal. Saw the sort of 'skeleton' Ali express versions that a lot of people seem to have but thought those weren't really my style either.
A while back I stumbled on these illuminated paddle shifters by NCZworks on eBay. This guy 3D printed and painted illuminated paddles that look very elevated OEM to me, but stopped making them. He does make the 3
D Printing files available on his Etsy for $15, so I figured why not try that out. I bought them, contacted a local 3D printer and had the files printed, sanded them smooth, spray painted them, wet sanded and polished the paint, then assembled them up and I think they look fantastic. Honestly if I had known how much work this would be before hand I probably would not have done it, but hey, it's done now
So finally, here is the completed wheel with these new paddles installed
