Hey take it from a d00d that had a mustang.

you probably wont like it coming from a Golf if its your only car. now if you dont like your golf because you had xyz big 'mericn v8 before..... then go for it.

I'd argue the older ones certainly were. E46 and earlier. The new ones are harder to justify. They can do great things on a track, but what does the car have to help the driver use it in sport?

+ LSD
+ Great seats
- handling feel isn't great
- heavy heavy heavy
Is the new ones' chassis balanced at the limit?

It's walking the line, for sure

The 2011+ Mustang has an LSD, even the base V6 model. And it's lighter then an M3. I think that M3 is still more of a sports car then the Mustang though, as it's easier to place on the track and drives much lighter then it is.

I kinda like it (but it wouldn't be for me) - it is what it is...and in many way its pretty amazing....its made to appeal to a certain audience and it does it quite well.

I still think I have the best one ever made (well again for what it is) - 64 1/2 289 vert...(been in the family since new) though the early K code cars and some since aren't too shabby.

It wasn't a "muscle car" proper at first but quickly evolved into one - at least in its more tricked out forms...it is now only because of the paucity of competition in the category....but I suppose an E55 AMG could be considered a muscle car in a sense.....even the new M3.

I've never considered the M3 a sports car per se - but it did a very nice imitation of one for a while. Its easier to be considered a sports car if you have 2 seat and maybe no radio or air conditioning....

Of course it isn't. It's got stuff, like doors and a radio.

Now THIS is a sports car...

Wait. Fuck. Redacted. You can get a windscreen as an option. Clearly not sportscar.

Nice car  especially cool to see it's been in the family so long. My mother's 67 (I think it was a 67.. Got it second hand) only lasted so long. Would have been pretty amazing to inherit that.

I agree on all counts about the M3, M5, E55 and C63 AMG etc. For a while I've thought of them as the spiritual successors of the muscle cars. Big power sport-tuned versions of high-volume chassis. Doesn't mean I don't want one though.

D-code? Nice!

I had an S-code 67 fastback.

2) specs not released
3) there was strong disagreement
4) also some disagreement here
5) disagreement
6) more disagreement

If everyone shared the same opinion there would be no discussion. Hence 22 pages in a few days. It's a testament to the significance of the mustang reveal, is it not?

Randy Pobst had no problems with the mustang and it's IRS when compared to an M3. Most people will not be tracking their Mustang anyway, so.. moot point is moot.

Max - great points.

NEEK - great balls/bald head

A few pages on what makes a muscle car or sports car is pretty asinine.

THAT is what makes this thread DAFUQ.

I'm sure there will be more disagreement about my above statement, but fact is fact, and that is fact. FACT.
