I was wondering where the pistons came from
I bought them from Dan at DBV2 but you can get them from any large vendor. They are the MAHLE PowerPak pistons but to get them ceramic coated was extra and I am not sure if all vendors are offering that.

Love watching this build. Since I am getting a Bronco and decided to keep the GTI for strictly toy duty I will likely follow suit. Great motor build man.

HAHA!

That reminded me of when I picked up my wife's 2018 Jetta SE and drove it home from Cleveland. It has the 1.4T. It gets great fuel economy. But, at just 150 hp, if someone on the road was the type to speed up when I want to make a casual pass (I-64 between Richmond and Williamsburg), I had to just take it and yield. I love that I don't have to tolerate that BS in my GTI!

Nice work on the build!

Well, almost there. It should be getting wrapped up this week. Things got delayed some due to my mechanic getting overloaded with work, since it's only him and one other mechanic at his shop. Good for him but bad for me. Things were moving quick in the beginning but then by the end of the 3rd week, all these customers started coming by needing repairs so it delayed the progress of my engine build. Anyways, took some pics this past Tuesday of where it's at.

Pistons sitting with a nice and tight piston to wall clearance. Much better than what the stock ones were at.

These next two pics are of where the turbo connects to the head. This is the ONLY area of the head that got ported out. After doing some research and talking to people, found out that if you are going to port out the head, it should only be the exhaust side where the turbo connects to it.

Looking great. You stayed 82.5mm correct? What P2W clearances did you go with?

Well, today might be the day I get my car back. The reason I say that is as long as everything goes good with the first initial start up and there are no issues during the break-in process, then it will be good to go. The engine was put back into my car last night and here are some pictures...

The picture below with the area circled in yellow, is where the turbo connects to the head and that was the only part of the cylinder head that was ported.
