Ok, hopefully this is the last of the idiot questions before I make a decision and start sourcing the parts: what cutoff frequency would you recommend when using the factory door speakers? The CV's control has that dial from 50-150, so I would think 150 would be ideal, right? I'm also assuming all 4 should be bass-blocked.

The door speakers may get replaced at a later date (because I know how gateway drugs work), but if that does happen, we'll worry about the particulars then.

Thanks again for all of your advice! (y)
I don’t have experience with trying to bass block the factory speakers since I’m running CV components up front

https://cerwinvegamobile.com/products/suv-truck/st-speakers/st-vega-speakers/v465c/

and Rockford coaxial in the back doors.

But I do have my crossover set for the front door mid drivers at 90-3600hz
then tweeters at 3400hz and up
Rear doors are 90hz and up
Sub is at 120hz max

Don't be a fool like me and source the wrong power cable (CCA)! The Cerwin Vega instruction manual states, in all caps, to never use a CCA wiring kit. 🤦‍♂️

AJ - did you tap behind the head unit or the CD player in the glove box?
You can use CCA but you have to remember up size from the required min gauge, to make up for it.

I tapped behind the head unit. Now since I have done all the speakers I added this and For the to and from signal from the amp/ processor.

Installed the Cerwin Vega over the weekend... found out that my S does not have a CD player in the glovebox. 🤦‍♂️ Ended up finding the correct wires to tap into under the door sill trim.
The system sounds great! A lot of bang for your buck. Cheers!

Exactly 6 days after install the CV failed & won't turn on. Checked all connections, fuses, etc.
Sending it back for a replacement today.

Also, question to the folks who have the CV: Did the supplied ABS nut secure the subwoofer firmly?
I found mine was more loosey- goosey than I would have liked.

I wonder what happened, it’s not lit up with protection mode? Mines been in the car over a year and half now and never had a turn on or even over heating issue.

yeah the nut set up on mine actually broke cause I was cranking it too much, I would tighten then shimmy sub and tighten again. The little prongs that lock it in on the body broke. What I ended up doing was flipping the rod with the wing nut over and using that on the body side then the old plastic piece I cut down and use it at the top, is extremely secure like that and I never have to retighten it.

Nope, we checked that first - it was not in protection mode.
I'm hoping it was just a dud and not a shady Amazon seller selling refurbished units. I will update once I receive the new one and install it.
Good to know about the wobble - I will do a better job addressing that on the next install.

Do you still have it in the car? Also check that remote wire, it needs to be hooked up to work if I recall. (Phone jack one)

I checked all connections including the remote wire which was hooked up correctly.
I uninstalled it last night, packed it away, and mailed it this morning.

Finished up installing the CV replacement unit. Good looking out with the inverted wingnut tip! Worked perfectly and there is 0 wobble. Thanks again for all your help.

Thanks for the great thread, guys. My wife was riding in the car this weekend and she says, "You need more bass." I had a 3-car-old Bazooka tube in my 2011 GTI, but she always hated how much space it took up. Lost it to a car prowl, and I typically ended up filling that space with junk anyway. She will be pleased that there isn't a tube to remove when I need to use all of the cargo space.

So I have a 2021 with the Fender factory sub, do I tap into that plug?
Yes but with stipulations, that signal is going To be amplified more so that the typical 15 to 20 watts - I don’t know if the internal converters will handle that you have to check the manual. But it will 100% be fine with a nice converter from audio control as they designed those to handle amplified signals.
