JB4 Logging, stacking and Map 6 Discussion

Hi All,

JB4 Incoming for a new GTI and was looking for some advice.

First - I read the entire thread at N54 tech and haven't really dove into this thread that much other than to search keywords around my question.

Second - I am experienced with this platform with the golf R and had one FBO running APR S2+ , I am in MA and use only high quality 93 gas.

Still learning the car a bit but one thing I am wary of is making the car too fast like my R was. I felt like I got that car well above the place it should be on the street and dont want to approach that with this car. The IS20 is perfect for this since its better at spooling low.

The Question: Does anyone have tips for a "Low torque" style map 6? I will be doing the test and adjust method but it occurs to me that this could go a lot faster with some starting guidelines. The goal is to give it a bit more grunt at speed without making the tires burn every time I stop/slow. I know a lot of this is driving technique but a flat and broad torque curve doesn't hurt.

Start with Map 2 and log it. My guess is that Map 2 is going to give you all you are looking for year round on pump 93. No need for a Map 6.

You've got a few PSI to add if you do it carefully and log often. Are you going to run the blend all the time, or were you just experimenting? I don't remember what the OEM Map 6 setting were, so post what you have now.
yeah i was gonna say this before like add .5 psi and see how it reacts

At 5500 and up add .5, you are hitting targets there so it can go a lil more

Hello @Diggs24

I hope you can take a look at my log and give me suggestions for improvement.

Automobile:
2019 VW Golf R GPF
300 HP / 380 Nm torque OEM
DSG 7Speed DQ381

Fuel:
German Aral Ultimate 102 Octane, if it’s not available then 100 octane shell Vpower.

LOG shows 3rd Gear (about 90 kmh) until 7th gear (about 280 km / h).

temperature outside: 18 degrees C

I did not feel any hesitations, but in my opinion the log shows problems with throttle closures and boost spikes after gear change....

The log shows following absolute Map6:

1500: 15.0
2000: 16.0
2500: 18.0
3000: 20.0
3500: 22.0
4000: 23.0
4500: 23.0
5000: 23.0
5500: 23.0
6000: 22.0
6500: 20.0
7000: 18.0
————————————————
FOL: 50
Boost Safety: 25 psi
Fuel Bias: 100
AutoShift Boost Redux: 70

If you need something else (other log) please tell me.
But most of the time in run Autobahn and run 100-200 times 😉😂😂
Would like to reach a time under 10 seconds.

Increase boost redux to 90
6CYL timing=1
Only wind out 3rd-4th and get a few hundred rpm of the beginning of 5th. I want to see if it will hit boost target and if the boost redux helps the shift into 5th.

Why does the trims flatline on the GPF cars? Sure its up against the speed limiter in 6th but it starts to lean out with 22psi of boost and then it decides to increase trims. 😧

Also newer seen a stock IC go down in temps during a pull from pure speed lol.

@Diggs24 thank you for helping.

I changed the settings like you said.

After that i took 3 more Logs from 3rd to 4th and a bit of 5th gear.

Outside temperature:
29 degrees Celsius 84 Fahrenheit

the outside temperature was 10 degrees Celsius hotter than the 1st log from 3rd - 7th gear. I hope you can still see, what you want to see...

IAT was at about
40 degrees Celsius / 104 Fahrenheit
at starting point and
at the end at 44 degrees Celsius / 111 Fahrenhe

I need to check what 6 says. Just got home but that for the feedback. I kinda like the mix honestly and it’s close enough to do.

Ok cool will do. Thanks again. Guys.

Map 6 settings currently. Untouched

I did my first logs with my JB4 and was hoping someone could take a look at them and make sure everything looks ok. 2017 GTI S, totally stock, 20k miles. 92 octane fuel, 64 degree ambient temperature. All logs in 3rd gear, let off around 5,500 rpm.

Should I be concerned with the AFR spikes on the Map 1 runs?

Map 0: https://datazap.me/u/samfortun/map-0-81120?log=0&data=1-4
Map 1 run 1: https://datazap.me/u/samfortun/map-1-81120?log=0&data=1-4
Map 1 run 2: https://datazap.me/u/samfortun/map-1-run-2-81120?log=0&data=1-4

Thanks for any help!
