As a person that's played with this, I'm not sure it's worth it. The factory boost curve is already biased towards low end power. Consider keeping your current maps 6 that you're happy with, and adding some sort a pedal tuner like BMS sells.
Thank you to all the contributors to this thread! Very informative. We are going to be testing our upgraded turbos on a Mk7.5r Golf R car with the JB4 and the insights here are going to save us a lot of time dialing it in and troubleshooting. It will be interesting to push the limits of what this piggyback controller can do when paired to stock ECU programming.
So if I’m on map 1 and I’m tired of wheel spinning in 1st gear if I adjust the user settings to limit boost to 20 psi will that take affect when I save it because it says map 6 at top but I’m on map 1? Just learning how to tweak things slowly wish I had a user in Modesto CA that could help

If you running the newer firmware found in post 1 here: https://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50428 the way the boost per gear works is the value you put in is the amount of psi it will cut. It can pull it lower than stock boost levels. The only setting that is map 6 related is the boost chart. The rest of the settings in the user adjustment section are global and affect all the maps. If you not running one of the newer firmware versions released in 2019 and its something older post your firmware version and I can let you know how to adjust it.

Awesome I’m on the newest map, so if I put in 20 on the limit it won’t go past 20psi in first? or do I need to put in -5 or something It sound like you are saying the value I put in will subtract from so my max boost is 24 and i put in say -8 so my max boost is 16 psi on first gear? Everything is a little bit confusing obviously there is a lot to learn.

You need to put in a positive value of what you want it to cut in first. So if you make max boost 1st 6 it will cut 6psi in first. If you put 2 it will cut 2. If you put 8 it will most likely pull it below stock. At a certain point the ECU will get unhappy and throw a overboost code if the cut is too high.

Yes I have considered that. Im just waiting and hoping that George comes up with an algorithm to correct the pedal lag.
That leads to my next question. I just downloaded the newest firmware a couple of days ago. Did some driving but not sure of the difference. Has anyone downloaded: FIRMWARE RELEASED 01/27/2020, LINKED TO THIS POST
Firmware version is 60/86/5 - File Name JB4_EA888_8_6.hex
If so any noticeable change? Maybe George can jump in. I would like more explanation as to what I should notice with; Refined part throttle driving
Change in spool up speed Logging resolution increased
