Bought an 83 GTI in 1990 at 19 y/o, then a 1990 GTI five years later at 25. I modded both with suspension bits and autocrossed the MK2. I sold it when I got company cars and SUV's. I still get a Ford Edge every three years for work but bought a GTI as a weekend/fun car.

2017 SE, Cobb/MAPerformance Stage 1, H&R Street coilovers, Verde 19" wheels wrapped with Hankook summer tires. What a joy to actually drive a car again.

Edit: Switched out the 19" Verde wheels for 18" Konigs and Michelin PS4S.

Welcome back to the community brother. These cars are great for everyday living and have good power at the stage 1 levels. Something about GTIs i find it hard to replicate in other cars I've owned.
