Hi,

I am owning a Golf 7 1.6 TDI Bluemotion 2014, I have always using Castrol Edge 5w30 for engine oil replacement.
but lately the engine become kinda noisy even on idle. I have checked the engine oil stick quality by hand and the oil was feeling like half water and other half like lubricant.
so I have made an engine oil replacement before it is annual replacement (3 months before). now the engine sounds a little better but it is stills kinda noisy. a mechanic guy told me to change the type of engine oil from 5w30 to 5w40 because of high kilometrage on my car (190km). but I am not really sure.

I don't know what is the best practice to hand my car engine!
-making an engine flush next time with Liquimoly.
-replace engine oil with 5w40 oil.
-or that is how vw car engine sounds on high kilometrage.

if you have any suggestions please don't hesitate to help me.

What kind of noise are you unsure about? Could you make a video and post?

I have no idea about any noises because everything is different with diesel, but thicker oil can quiet an engine down. For my engine at least, VW recommends either 5w30 or 5w40, and I've been using 5w40 it's whole life.

If you go by the book, you should be using VW 507.00 approved oil for the 1.6 TDI.

VW 507.00 is, by definition, 5W30.

Using a non-VW 507.00 approved oil could reduce the lifespan of your DPF.
