How painful is the install? Local shop is quoting $320 for install. I'm pretty good with a wrench, but will pay to avoid having to do painful jobs as I've gotten old and soft.

I was looking for this exact thing when the other guy asked, I tagged 2 wrong people, yeah me and banned guy went at it a tad over the ram intake stuff. decided to leave it alone as he was very one minded
He has a nice website and I appreciated some of his bench testing which isn't always relatable to actually being installed but he was very narrow minded and would not ever admit to being wrong about anything. A now friend of mine who has 45 years of actual testing for car companies on dynos and engineering quit the forum because of him because of his stubbornness to admit he was or could be wrong.

He quit the forum cause one person wouldn’t agree with him, Hahaha.

yet millennials and the soft one...

He has severe health problems and he couldn't handle the stress it created for him dealing with an amatuer who hasn't had a career in engineering for the auto industry. I don't agree with him leaving but who am I to say that his health couldn't handle what was stressful for him.

not to derail the thread, but him

ya the guy that got banned was real nutty. I pretty much admit I dont know a lot on every other post. No need to stand on pride hill and die. Rather learn and meet people ect. Sad your friend left, sound like he coulda been a key player around here as for knowledge and resource. But as all things, this is a place you cant take things to heart, people are trolls and trolls will troll. Also some people may be wrong but wont admit it, and others are just dicks. But the good people outweigh the bad

Seems like APR and IE are pretty similar in design and performance. Any significant reason to choose one over the other, other than general hate towards APR?
I recently went back and forth between these two. APR hate aside, the castings on the APR's intercooler look a lot cleaner. I looked at a lot of for sale ads for photos of used IE intercoolers after someone said EQT Tuning was unimpressed with IE intercoolers and found that to be fairly obvious. Not sure if that's a significant enough reason for you. IE seems like a great company with really good marketing, but I'm not sure if their products are as polished as APR's.

Thanks for the input. I think I decided on the Unitronics IC, as it seems to be similar and $300 less expensive. Any performance difference probably will be unrecognizable to me, as it's going on a very conservative stg 1 tune.

I remember when he was arguing that E85 didn't help turbos spool faster. Would probably argue the sky wasn't blue . "IT ONLY LOOKS BLUE BECUASE IT DOESNT ABSORB THAT COLOR! arg"

All I know is I got a good deal on an intercooler from him and seems like a stand-up guy. I mean the intercooler I got from him was only used for the flow testing, still in the original box. Looked brand new. And got it for a couple bills less than new sale price.

Also, he does more testing than anyone on this forum, that I've seen at least. For that reason, he probably feels like he is more knowledgeable especially when it comes to flow testing. Not defending that part because I know nothing of what you all speak, or very little, but just though I would share because people are not 2D.
