Nothin that really stands out from the rest then? I wasn't planning on upgrading the fmic so I haven't paid any attention to them. It's getting hot though and I've had a couple pulls that felt weak.
If you have the money and wanna pull the trigger, IE is one of the best, APR/ Uni are all good and will be fine. FMIC looks good and is easier to install less core but still gets the job done.

They're all way more than I want to spend lol, but I've done this enough to know it's worth it to pay for the higher quality in the long run. I had a neuspeed fmic on my mk6 gti, but I think I want to replace the stock unit this time. Looks like they're all about $900. I'm not going to do anything right away, but I'll be thinking on it for a while.

Does IE ever have sales on intercoolers? Maybe a memorial day sale.

Sounds like you have some time

All three that I listed literally stand out from the rest. Not exactly clear what you mean by that. Unless you are racing your car at Le Mans next year, you'll do fine with any of those, among several others that might be a little cheaper.

Never said I didn't and you never had to answer. I'll read the thread eventually and do my own research, but obviously I didn't feel like doing that today. Upgrading the fmic was just in the back in my mind and I saw this thread so I figured I'd ask. Next time I'll just send you a pm.

Thanks mk7_bk and Diggs.

honestly, I did jakes fmic kit, its cheaper than stock location and i run 4-6 over ambient every pull. I don't think there is any need to spend all that money 900 is a lot.

BMP has the CTS FMIC for 450 right now, thats a steal

BMS direct fit is pretty cheap too. If its just a daily I would say go with BMS its like 450 direct fit BFI is selling it. I don't think there is going to be that much of a difference from BMS to IE. Yes IE is better but if you were to race someone all same mods and they had the IE, they wouldn't leave you in the dust or something, it would be neck and neck.

All the top brands, APR, IE, Uni, you are paying extra 100+ for the name

Actually...here's a good (lol) question. Is it different with the R? I didn't even think to look until I noticed the $450 cts kit on bmps site being for the gti. Some day I'll check to see if I'm in the R or GTI section.

the CTS core is around 100cubic inches smaller than the vibrant core Jake utilizes in his kit though.

some hate on CTS but

if thats what it says then ya. I was just posting for IAT data, honestly still trying to figure out all that boost stuff.

Higher boost puts more demand on the intercooler. 13-15 psi when the airflow is starting to really move is much easier on the IC than at 25 psi. Just something to keep in mind when talking about IAT, it's important to know what the boost level is.

I get what your saying. I dont agree or disagree. I think iats are high when cruising. When I go pedal 100 at 4100 rpm, iats drastically drop and its going to take a few seconds to hit maximum minimum iat. So really what matters is what happens when you go pedal 100
