Hi Guys,

I wanted to start a thread with user's logs on actual real world numbers for intercooler performance. This started on another thread and to avoid going off topic on that, decided to start a new thread. I'll start and hopefully gn4r can add his. For each post, please include:

Ambient temperature
Model of intercooler
Mods that might affect temps (tune, meth, etc)
What gear (and run if applicable)
Log with IATs

63*F (17*C)
Stock intercooler
Bone stock '16 GTI PP
4th gear pull - 3rd run (ran out of room so somewhat limited)

I'm still hoping to get some intercooler logs from different users. Below is a nice graph of 4 pulls I did in. Below are the specs of the pulls and graph:

72*F (22*C)
Stock intercooler
Bone stock '16 GTI PP
4th gear pull on first run and 3rd for all others
**Note the runs were done as quickly as I could do on streets. Intercooler actually had more heat soak with ~60 seconds between pulls

I ordered my JB1 already so I'm hoping to have before and after logs on what the increased boost does to IATs. I'd love to see people with aftermarket intercoolers chime in so we can see what's working in the real world.

JB1 +5.2psi WOT 4th Gear 3k to ~Redline - About 23C that day.

Never mind, I remembered you run a twincooler. I'd have expected your temps to be lower but we'll see what JB1 at 4.8 does for factory intercooler temps. I know it'll jump, but it'll be nice to see how high with a before and after.

Sorry I missed this thread! It was started in January so maybe that's why there weren't too many people contributing? Now that the summer heat is here (somewhat in my area) I'll try and get a log of the stock intercooler performance.

Sounds good. I'll need to get a new log now that I have my JB1 as well. I think the stocker is good until you start pushing up the boost so I'd be curious the performance now.. especially with is being about 10°F hotter here. I'll try to get a new one later this week when I'm hoping to finish my temp logging for DP wrapping.

Finally getting some awesome Data! Different cars, mainly looking at the curve of the IAT's vs engine speed. (To see if the intercooler is maintaining temps, or spiking up)

the stock cooler isn't that bad really. It's probably excellent for stock boost pressures, and adequate for those tuned. Just a short observation.

Ya at stock levels as seen by my graph, it's great, but even stage 1 it does start losing efficiency and stage 2 it's well beyond its capabilities. I've got some logs when I was JB1 which I'll add, then JB4, JB4 with IC, multiple ED tune logs, APR... I am know as a log hoarder hahaha
