Hi,

Looking for some help/advice.

I have a Golf 2017 TDI.

Started the car the other day and infotainment system did not come on. Blank screen, no sound. Absolutely no signs of life.

Tried pressing power button and holding for 30 seconds and nothing. Pretty sure I've done this hard reset in the past and it worked in that situation.

I've changed the 2 fuses in the glove box still no life from it.

I've booked in at VW main dealer and been quoted £150 just to look at it.

Anything else I can try before I take it in ? Any cables I can check ? No sure on locations.

The golf only has a service 4 days before it stopped working.

Thanks Ben

Ok update.

Been into main dealer today. Told the screen is dead and quoted a new one for £3,000

Can't believe how much it is to replace. Car must only be work £9k possibly.

I'm going to look at removing the unit and send away for testing.

Damn. Same thing happened to me on the same date, weird. Also booked in to dealer 150€. Wasn't expecting 3k to fix.

No I haven't even been in yet but my problems sound the same as yours. Think I'll go ahead and order a second hand one from eBay approx 250euro delivered. Looks handy to change out. Out of curiosity is there power to your usb port? I don't and that bit I don't understand

No power to the USB port. My phone won't charge.

From my understanding be careful with secondhand unit. The new one will need to be coded to the car. Something to do with component protection.

Thought I better update this thread hopefully it helps someone else.

Quick summary.

Infotainment screen died randomly one day. Would not reset when holding power put down, new fuses behind glove box for infotainment system did not fix the issue.

Booked into VW Mansfield main dealer. £165 charge for diagnostic checks to confirm screen was dead.

Quote for new system was £3054.00

If I had the work done at the main dealer they would not charge for diagnostic charge of £165.

I emailed VW customer service and after a few emails got a phone call. The VW customer care staff looked into the problem and spoke to VW Mansfield. Eventually it was agreed VW would pay half of the bill which I was happy with.

It didn't take much from me to get vw to pay half no shouting or anything legal was mentioned. I was happy with customer service with the issue. At the end of the day it's a 2017 car and no longer under warranty. They could of just said bad luck pay the £3k bill.

Booked in with VW Mansfield worked all completed and my bill to pay was £1300 can't remember exact amount but definitely under £1400.

Been fine since it's been replaced.

Hope this helps someone.
