Anyone swap one into a DSG car and know if the engine comes with a flywheel pilot bearing installed or if we need one?
Yes, at least mine did. You can get them with a fly wheel too im sure.

Hey everyone,

I've been following this thread a couple months since I threw rod bearing 4 in my 2017 S in March. Zhong told me as well that the CJX long block was the way to go to replace my CXCA. I have run into 2 issues so far I want to share and warn about. (I've also let Zhong know to hopefully save some headache and the slight angry panic I've run into) First off, there is a freeze plug on my CXCA that is right between where the bolts for the downpipe mounting bracket attaches to the block. The CJX that came does not have one. My local VW dealership over the phone told me they had the part in stock, but it ended up being the wrong part - then running around to various auto parts stores yesterday got me into a 20mm freeze plug that is too big. I will update here with the part number when I find the right plug for that. 2- THERE IS NO SECONDARY AIR PORT on the head of this long block. There are taps for the pump, but no port into the exhaust. We shall see how this plays out with Zhong and eventually emissions.

Both of these differences can clearly be seen in the pictures of the CJX on the website, this wasn't some bait and switch- This is my first experience of this magnitude of work on these engines, so I didn't know what to look for before the old one was out of my car.

Thrilled to be a freeze plug away from being back on the road in the GTI though. And thank you all for the info and entertainment on this thread the past few months!

I just installed core plugs last week. My block is not a Chinese block but the plug that fit in that location is N0119019

The SAI is an issue I'm having as well, not sure what to do about it at this point.

Yeah, can confirm it's not as simple as a pilot hole. I drilled in where the port is on the CXC head, did not make positive pass-through to the exhaust channel. Not exploring that one any further.

I'm in southern Colorado where we dont have emissions testing, so I'm planning to just delete the SAI system entirely once my engine arrives, seems in your case though you are going to have to swap the head from your original engine over to retain SAI.

Crazy idea.

Why not mount the SAI solenoid to the head and just let ECU do it's thing. Threaded mounting holes are there for the solenoid. Get some washers/short spacers to clearance the solenoid off the head so it isn't sealed. Wouldn't truly function, but wouldn't need to code anything out (not that anyone would ever do that) or live with the error codes.

Will have to take a look at my dead SAI solenoid and see if it would interfere with the blank head casting.

Seems like a whole bunch of people have jumped on the AliExpress/Baba Train..hopefully these engines stand the test of time and abuse.
