Important PSA regarding improperly built TPC20 Turbos

Since it seems a lot of people don't want to go back to the first page to read the info. This is what is on the first page.

This is is the very least where the "performance cover" come from. But I would not be surprised if other parts of the turbo are from china Alibaba companies. TPC doesn't actually build turbos.

Finally retired it last season (for a newer TPC unit) , just to be put into an alltrack so it can continue to provide despair to all those who challenge.

Your TPC20 is not even the same as the one I had. Still called TPC20 for some reason. Yours may even be a prior generation to the two that blew up in 2019.

Let's assume that your unit, the two that blew up in 2019, and Jim Lloyd's which blew up, are the same generation TPC20s. 1 unit is still working, 3 blew up. Doesn't look good.

I was recently informed by a TPC vendor that newer TPC20s and 25s were discontinued because of very low sales volume. We have Matt's working TPC25, and at least two bad TPC20s which I know of. That's 2 bad TPC20/25s out of 3.

Okay, let's not assume that his 4 year old TPC20 is the same as the units from 2019 that blew up (in less than 3k miles). His input is still invalid because his turbo is NOT the same as what's being discussed here. They haven't sold that version of the TPC20 in many years.

...If you have a TPC turbo, and it's laggy, or not making expected boost. Get a log and post it up, and let's determine if it's a hardware issue. That's what people should be doing here.

Figured I would share my experience. My Vortex was great as well.

Vortex installed September 2020 @ 55,000 miles. Currently have 99,000 miles on the car.

Did kill a DSG clutch pack at 92k miles. Figure that is decent compared to manual trans folks. But otherwise no fucks given. Tuned since 15k miles.

That log he posted (by mistake?) isn't actually that good. It's a 2nd gear log, and the tune looks like it's not dialed in.

I posted that one because it was the first log. No accident. Hence the part that says "first tpc38 log" in the URL.
