Important PSA regarding improperly built TPC20 Turbos

Define bunch? Because if we extend it to "people we know", my number goes up to at least 10 for bad. So even if there are 20 good ones we can say "we know of" that are good, there are 10 which I can say I know of as being bad. 50% is not good. You don't see these numbers today with the Vortex turbos. I just do see why anyone would take the gamble. Nobody is denying some work, I'm just saying he failure rate is higher than the competitors.
I never claimed that TPC turbos are the best. There are a lot of good choices out there at the moment.

I have no regrets with my TPC25. Spools quick, carries out boost to 7400 rpm. TPC38 flows better without sacrificing hardly any spool which is why the TPC25 isn’t being offered anymore from my understanding.

I came from a Mabo m480h which was at 90% wgdc @ 28psi and couldn’t hit 28 psi until 4400 rpm in 3rd so the TPC25 was a major upgrade.

Ultimately anyone buying a turbo should do their due diligence. I contemplated whether I should add my experience with TPC in this thread. I’m not here to get in a pissing match with anyone. I came in with real data, which was the ask.

My turbo puts in work. I installed it myself, performed a boost leak test, filled the chra with oil before starting. I did everything by the book. There are a ton of people out there whose “builds” are cobbled together and marginal at best. People who are quick to blame the turbo when there is something else mechanically wrong. I think it’s fair for any turbo company to ask you to perform boost leak tests or smoke tests to rule something simple out before absorbing the cost of returning a turbo and sending out a replacement.

But that being said, a company should stand behind its customers and its product. Communication through the process should be respectful. Paul at TPC has always been super helpful anytime I have had questions.

The current 38’s and 770’s with performance housings work well. I don’t know where the 40psi comes into play on the 770’s. Based on my wgdc I’m sure I could try to tickle 40 psi on my tpc25 but it won’t flow as much as the 770 will at the same pressure.

Based on my personal experience I would buy another turbo from TPC.

Looks like this thread has been moved to Off Topic. Kinda funny because this is a legit PSA. The mods don't care of people get suckered out of thousands of dollars. We'll be back in the regular forums once another one goes bad.
1. This thread is hilarious
2. I'm convinced you're trolling
3. No useful information, just a pissed off guy making up speculation numbers on a witch hunt.

Sure seems like off topic is the place for it.

Well this is exactly what a lot of TPCs do too. This is the problem. Do we agree this is a problem? What did Paul help you with? Answering questions is one thing, but fixing actual problems is another.

I'm also unsure if your particular TPC38 is even available to everyone who wants one today. There have been so many revisions. I promise you, that second turbo Jim got which didn't blow up, isn't available anymore, even though they are all called TPC20s. There are multiple revisions of TPC38s too.

40 PSI comes from TPC's own website for the 770.

So none of the info in the first few pages is useful? You're crazy and I think you're the one biased and covering up info. Multiple people have come out and realized their turbos don't work because of this thread. You can stay out of this thread now, thanks.

No actually you guys watered it down. Not me. Please take responsibility for it. I literally said I would not be surprised if it was 60% failure. That was a personal opinion that later got proven correct again and again. And also brought forth more truth about TPC paying hush money. It pains you to be wrong, I get it. You jumped on the wrong bandwagon and now you're committed.

Again, look back, I didn't muddy this, you did. I tried to make it very clear and fair.

I also want to point out you moved this thread which you admitted was useful in to Off Topic for your own reasons. @jay745 So the next person who gets $2000 bucks caught up in TPC, is on you.

i was never asked to keep quiet or not post about it. i didn't feel the need to sound the alarms and make big ol' shit posts and witch hunt EQT
they did what they should have, and fixed the issue. now the new owner was also taken care of, and they are going to warranty that one as well.
This 💩 post was only made big, by you guys crying about it though. It was dead silent for almost a yr, until I posted my logs which seems I have the same witch hunt issues. We aren't gonna find out how many more cause as soon as we found 2 everyone started crying.

Ultimately anyone buying a turbo should do their due diligence. I contemplated whether I should add my experience with TPC in this thread. I’m not here to get in a pissing match with anyone. I came in with real data, which was the ask.
Exactly same thing I did, which gave credit to @ZuMBLe so now we know of 2 people with this issue. We won't get any more info on this cause as soon as someone addresses an issue you get the fanbase.

I literally feel your talking about yourself.

No useful information, pissed off guy.

Witch hunt which proved there was another person with same issue. So can we continue on to see how many people have this issue before you jump down and claim it's a witch hunt and it's not 60%, We won't know the true % until we get all the numbers in. And we can't get no numbers with people hurt at current ones found.

If only VW did the same thing with WaterPumps! That's a witch Hunt! there's only been 12,000 issues we sold over 340,000 vehicles that year. That's a witch hunt there shouldn't be a class action lawsuits. I made up the numbers I don't know how many they really are, I don't want anyone getting upset. But it took one person to post about the problem until people started to realize it's a bigger issue.
