Little bit offtopic:

planning on using the set tmps button (pin 9=abs and Pin10=12v) from an aliexpress set on the mk7 for using the electric tailgate open and close button.

I’ve got a tailgate plug which has the following connections:
View attachment 201336
Wiring scheme (plug):
Red wire to positive pole (input end);
white to negative pole;
black to load (positive output end

is it possible to make the tmps button work as an open and close button?
I have one of those aliexpress trunk release buttons., which i am planning to install on the front driver door card and run it BCM for trunk unlock/release. I can open the tail gate, but never close with it. Dont have a motor to close.

I ended up using the TPMS button to wire to my garage door opener. Simply used pins 9 and 10 to close the circuit on the 2 contact pins on my garage door opener button.

I have 3 buttons - SET, MODE and Auto Start/Stop Buttons unused on the center console. Blanked out with black vinyl. Waiting for future expansion options.

Auto Start/Stop (E693) and and Mode (E735) provide a momentary ground out of pin 4 and pin 3 respectively. This ground is usually sent to the BCM (J519) but could be sent elsewhere. Unfortunately they can't really be wired to act as standalone momentary switches because the ground they send is common for all the backlighting for that bank of 3 buttons (EX23). I don't have a drawing for TPMS set but as mentioned by @golfdave, it closes pin 9 and 10 of the right side switches, just like the ESC button closes pin 9 and 10 on the left side switches. I have 5 functioning buttons in the center, with the Auto/Start Stop provisionally wired to control a relay for my eventual external soundactor install. Now I'm getting out of here before @golfdave cleans up this thread, haha.

Hello.

I am wiring the TPMS button (pin9) to the T17d connector (male and female) and then to the ABS connector. I'd like to know the serial number for each connector's pins, so I can buy the right ones and crimp to the wires.

That's what I know from this topic (Thanks to @golfdave):

T10ks connector (female) - Pin S/N 000 979 009 E (Switch module connector)
T17d connector (female) - Pin S/N 000 979 034 E
T17d connector (male) - Pin S/N 000 979 035 E
ABS connector - Pin S/N ??? ??? ??? ?

Does anybody knows the ABS pin S/N?

Thanks in advance!

Attached is my contribution for the topic: The ABS connector diagram for TCS/ESC and TPMS wiring.

Hello,

First of all I want to thank @golfdave for this topic. Without his directions I would not have succeeded. I still can't believe I succeeded. It's the first time I dare to work on the electric part of my car.
I hope that the experience I had will help others to retro-fit the TPMS button.

Toolbox:
  • Round brass pipe. Length 1 meter and diameter 6 millimeters. (I cut it in half). I found her at Hornbach.
  • Tesa wiring textile strip 51608 (I used it inside the car)
  • Textile tape Tesa 51026 (for engine bay)
  • Heat shrink tubing
  • Screwdriver
  • Lighter (to activate the heat shrink tubing)
  • Tissue scissor (to untie the black / yellow wire from the EPB)

After disassembling the glove box behind it I found a wire that goes to the engine compartment. The hole through which the wire passes is insulated with an elastic / porous gasket. I carefully inserted the brass pipe into the hole, inserted a finger and checked that the pipe was positioned between the wire and the firewall, and pushed lightly until the pipe pierced the gasket and came out into the engine compartment.

Then I connected the two wires together (000 979 009 E and 000 979 046E) and isolated them (textile tape Tesa 51026). After that I inserted the end of the wire that goes to the ABS unit in the pipe (about 10 cm) and I tied it to the pipe with tape. Then I pulled the pipe, slowly, through the firewall until the wire passed into the engine compartment.

No seal up is necessary.

How to unlock J104 connector.

To check that you have put the safety in place, pull one of the plastic dummy.

So, today did the TPMS button, because I already have the 3 buttons on the right quite a while. Thanks @golfdave, for making this guide long a go.

Because I already have quite some time retrofitted the 3 buttons on right side it started to disturb me that this button wasn't doing anything, just like "mode" and "esp off", so this morning I literally googled "retrofit tpms set button golf 7", and found this topic.

I did read first few posts and decided to do the retrofit directly. During installation I already mentioned based on what I read, that ESP off couldn't be to hard also, so I immediately pulled a second wire and source it out later. I just now read all post in this topic, and I am happy I pulled the second wire directly. Will do connect the "esp off" button soon also.

Wire from any switched 12v supply (I used the same location on the EPB as I did in the above guide) to pin 10 on the T10ks connector for the SET! Switch module.
At first I read to fast and missed this part 😅. So I pulled
the wire from switch to ABS, did test, and,,,, nothing🤔
At first I thought, did I mix up 1 of the 2 wires that I pulled? But after rereading the DIY I quickly found out what's wrong, no 12v supply.

So, ESP OFF will also work, and going to do that soon, but, MODE button, could I do some with this button also? I dont have DCC or DSG, but could it be used for example ACC driving profiles?

Happy to hear,

Greets Chris

@Meesters The Mode button (like the others) is just a momentary switch so it could be used to anything that uses momentary ground input.

Retrofit of drive modes requires adding FEC's, minor wiring, buttons (which you already have) and SVM. The part number for that kit is 5G0054809.

As you are in Europe see if your dealer has (or can source) it. You don't need DCC or DSG. Drive modes can change any number of things (ACC, Steering, A/C setting, Engine Setting, etc.)
