So, I'm looking into doing this mod, but can't find thencslioer carriers. Putting those numbers (8V0 615 125A and 126A) are getting me no results in my usual online parts sources and at e-acca. Is there a different number this part is also known by or is there a source someone can point me to?

These are off the GTD Golf & Audi A3....You can use GTI (red) or GTE (blue)

The numbers are correct...try the VW or Audi parts dept...I had too.

It doesn't matter if it's been an original Audi part number, since it's a
Volkswagen part number as well from that moment this part is used on
a Volkswagen model. You'd also find original Volkswagen part numbers
on an Audi A3 and TT, and I don't think Audi owners want to have to
buy their stuff somewhere else but at Audi.

I Was trying VW places. I see that's actually an Audi part number now. Still love to find out where to get it for £72 though!

https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/trw-7488925.html#

This is where I got mine....price is now £96...

Most of these online places DO NOT hold stock, they just order as & when from manufacturer...TRW had NO stock of one side...so had to get that one from VW Dealer...

However both sides are the same, just swap the pins around on the wrong one..

Yes they will fit with your old axles from what I understand.

I did mention in my above posts that the braking is way better, less grabby, more progressive, better feel, & even on a two hour twisty back road with a step descent 1.5hrs in which used to cook the standard 288mm disc...this time no cooking....total control....not even half way down with the pedal...

oh & remember I have the heavier golf estate (gsw) & this is with two people & a boot load of winter mountaineering gear..

Hey GolfDave,

Im in the process of changing my 288 for the 312 and have ordered the new caliper carriers and 312mm rotors.

While I was talking to the dealer I wanted to ask what the difference is between the calipers on my 2017 FWD GSW and the 2017 4motion/Alltrack.

To my surprise the FWD GSW Caliper uses part #5QM615123 and the 4motion/AllTrack uses part #8V0615123D

I cant find any information on the 4motion caliper and why the part # is different or if the piston diameter is different.
That said, the brake pads are the same part # between both the FWD GSW and 4motion/AllTrack.

Should there be any concern in regards to the caliper part #?

The number you have stated of 5QM 615 123 is the 276mm front brake disc caliper...NOT the 288mm

The 276 has an older & different hub carrier & will not work with the 288/312/340mm conversions...

That is very strange.

According to the stealership when they looked up my VIN, part #5QM 615 123 came up for the caliper and said it's 288mm.

I will measure the diameter and verify.

So you are right. I actually have the 276mm front rotors, yet every single dealer I call look up my VIN# and tell me I have 288mm with 5QM 615 123 calipers.

These cars were not supposed to have 276mm at all.

!WTF!

Go back & tell the dealer & state that the car was built wrong....as not according to the VW VIN record...

however I am digging abit deeper....

https://volkswagen.7zap.com/en/usa/golf+variant+sportwagen/gov/2015-796/6/615-615000/

shows the 5QM for the 288mm disc???

this contradicts the same 288mm page for Europe
https://volkswagen.7zap.com/en/rdw/golf+variant+4motion/golf/2014-763/6/615-615000/

double check your discs....the 288mm could be right with that caliper number...I have been checking out the 276 & I think I mistook an "0" for an "M"...

I dont know what to say.

However this weekend I will pop the wheel off and measure the rotor it with a digital caliper to get an exact dimension.

Lets assume my car has caliper# 5QM 615 123 and 288mm rotors, then that means caliper# 5QM 615 123 will still work with the 312mm ?

Either way, the parts are ordered and on their way. If they dont fit then I can return them for full refund.

Double check your discs...

I've been doing some more checking & the 5QM is 288mm for USA...the 8V0 part number which is the European Golf part is Audi based A3 (which I knew as starts with 8)

As you get the Audi A3 I don't get why they don't use this part number.

I wrongly mis-read  the parts list spec for the euro 276mm which is 5Q0 615 123...as 5M0 & thought that you had the 276 fitted...

I recon you should be good to go ok. with the swap..

I can't find anything on google and the dealer doesnt know either
