How are the EQT OTS / base Accessport tunes?

I run the EQT stg 1 ots 91 oct tune, though I run 93 Oct. I do this because I live in the sweaty armpit of the country, Floriderp, so I see it as a safer way to go. Car runs strong and no issues with pulling timing or knock.

I've ran my s1 93 oct tune for about 11 months in FL too. I haven't used the AP in a while, but I had no knock when I used to watch it, and there's been no misfires. I've never even seen the slightest bit of hesitation or fluctuation of power. It's always predictable and always reliable.

I'm also still running the version of the tune that blew a couple motors from launching, but I don't do any launches lol

Anyone have a comparison coming from Eurodyne stg2 93 OTS? Deliberating on a full protune from either this platform or Maestro but would like to have something to run with before I decide on the high price tag of either one. If I go ED, the Cobb AP always has resale value.

Cobb is a way better platform for a protune. The advantage of Eurodyne is that you can self-tune. If you don’t want to tune yourself, there is no reason to get Eurodyne over Cobb

Local shop told me that ED is better than Cobb for protunes but that’s probably because that’s what they sell. I was also suspicious of that claim, not an expert on tunes, but I have heard of Cobb long before I heard of ED.

I do want to try self tuning but perhaps after I get my backup VR6 car out of limp mode incase I blow a turbo.

If you start at the base map and slowly work your way up, you wouldn’t have to worry too much about blowing the turbo up. And that is definitely because the sell ED. I have done both and Cobb is way easier to log with (may have changed with the PowerTap Air though), Cobb can log way more parameters, and Cobb has way more tables that allow for more control over the ECU. Self-tuning is the only advantage to ED

Basic EQT staged tune is much better all around than eurodyne stage 2 OTS. I have both... like already said the only advantage is self tuning on ED.

Question: does the AP need to be plugged in at all times?

Nope, I had it plugged in for the first few weeks just to monitor knock, iats, few other things, but once you know you're good just leave that thing in the glovebox.

No, it flashes/re programs the ECU. You can plug it in to reflash, monitor various params like mentioned above, check/clear codes. It has various maint. functions like wastegate and DSG basic setting. You can also adjust various settings that are tune related if you got those "extra" options, such as launch control rpm, traction control settings, etc.

Cobb is my favorite tuning solution for sure....just wish it supported end user tuning. Hoping they release accesstuner here eventually.

Gotta catch em all...
