How are the EQT OTS / base Accessport tunes?

I don't see why the tune would change that. The main change on the tune update was the DV control around 3000 RPM at 40% throttle. What was the ambient temperature compared to when you are comparing it to?
I definitely don't think it's related to the tune. I should have made that more clear in my original post as to not throw shade at EQT haha.

This was just the first log I've run in a while so the IAT "issue" is staring me in the face.

the more I think about it I'm becoming less concerned. There are a few variables and I have a few ideas on it.

First, I typically keep an eye on IAT's via my P3 gauge. I don't stare at it nonstop, but occasionally glance at it and make sure everything is normal, and it usually looks good. That's how I know my normal IATs range from 15-20 over ambient during normal cruising/highway speeds, and they always drop when I get on the gas, just like they're supposed to. This is typical for daily driving though, not what they look like necessarily after driving hard and doing some pulls like I did today. So that may have attributed to it.

Second, I've only been on EQT for about 2 months now, the prior ~18 months while I had the intercooler I was running Unitronic stage 2, which runs significantly less boost. I'm not positive but it's possible with the turbo working harder on EQT it does make the temp go up a bit.

Third, I recently installed the Alltrack belly pan and have noticed that the engine bay seems to hold more heat now. I understand engine temp does not equal intake temp, but it could be a factor.

Lastly, another recent change is I swapped back to the OEM throttle pipes from the ECS pipes. This sounds like a prime candidate for an issue, but I've inspected them twice now and they seem fine. Everything is seated properly and all clamps are tight and secure. I liked the ECS pipe, but it started to apply pressure to the radiator fan shroud and it was causing it to make a horrible noise at high fan speeds. Everyone says the OEM pipes are as good as any, so I wasn't too upset to swap back to them, but I may start to look for a different aftermarket pipe that has better fitment than the ECS pipe.

One rule to keep in mind about thermodynamics is heat is not gained/lost in a linear fashion. Also, as an engine works harder, it gets hotter (duh), but sheds it at a slower rate due to heat soak effect. Cooling capacity remains the same as it tries to deal with added heat, so it slows it down further.

Now, is your engine working harder? Probably. And you can possibly attribute it to a tune, but not for any reason that the tune is "bad" or causes problems. It simply makes your engine work a bit harder, usually through added boost. This is common with tunes that take power levels right to the edge while keeping it within safe levels for your equipment, especially with those that add significant amounts of boost (compressing air heats it up exponentially).

KyA-in your case it may it may be a coincidence of circumstances with all the changes you have made. I say as long as its responding "normally", you should be ok. Only way to know for sure is to change everything back, preferably a step at a time to isolate what change made what result. But that would be a huge pain in the ass and not worth the effort in my opinion. Also getting warmer in these parts, so there's that too.

Same oil. As far as ambients go, my switch to EQT coincided with the start of very warm weather. It seems that quite a few folks that run EQT have pretty high (at least by my standards) oil temps. Then again, those temperatures may be just fine.

I'm sure they are. Oil is a coolant too ;).

Anyone know what Ed updated with his "v2" push?

From what I've been reading, and what Patrick said in his email to us that didn't have v2.0 loaded in AP for their recent sale, it deals with the common diverter valve bleed/flutter that has been frustrating tuners for a while. Seems they have figured it out and incorporated it in v2.0.

Thanks for this ....quick reply! Hmmm...yeah....I guess I noticed it a little, but wasn't overtly bad on my protune. Going to load this up and do a couple pulls today...I'll specifically watch/listen to see if I notice a difference.

This was on the staged tunes at least. Don't know about the Protune, may be the same though.

Yup. I'm just used to seeing my temp be at 104degC when cruising, and it's now 4degC higher. A 3.8% increase is not insignificant, yet not critical, especially given that it pretty suddenly got hot around here (it was 33degC at 1630 when I got off work yesterday).

Thats about where mine sits cruising around. Gets up to 234 sometimes just doing city driving in summer weather. Not a thing to worry about. Different oils have different heat absorbing/retaining capabilities as well as other variables like ambient temp influence and even tolerances in oil temp sensors themselves. If you're really concerned (or super anal like me 😁 ), get ya a used oil analysis and pay attention to the viscosity thinning. If they are really low, could be from heat breakdown or shearing, especially if your oil is in service for a short interval.

Oh damn, 112degC. Looks like my temps are just fine.

PS
Every time I see my wife's Beetle oil temp sitting at 92degC (max), I get jealous. :) It's a 1.8 liter and untuned, but still. ^_^
