This is my first car back to performance modding since the early 2000s I had an extinguisher back then in my sprayed DC2 Honda Integra Type R.
Adding this to the pandemic shopping list that’s ever growing.

nitrous cars for sure should all have extinguishers, seen too many wet kit cars leak and have massive issues. I like that bracketeer setup although i may just wrap mine in a towel and put it in the back hatch side pocket. this is a good reminder to put one in my car now actually.

how do you guys feel about running a colder spark plug in cylinder #1?

That’s nice have you installed this? I had a pillar mount but would prefer this for aesthetics.
I don’t have one yet. The guy who runs my local Cars and Coffee owns the company, I believe. Super nice Aussie guy, puts in a TON of work doing C&C in Orange County with a bunch of entitled millionaires.

I'm more likely to use the extinguisher on someone else's car than my own, but you never know. It wasn't expensive and fits well in the cubby on either side of the hatch.

Yeah, but who's the pistol for

That was the sketchiest shit I've done in awhile, it was out of state where my permit isn't valid but IDGAF about a permit.

Those guys didn't trust me and I sure as fck didn't trust them and their giant barn in the woods full of high end Audi parts.

Best part was being led to the barn by a car with no plates 😂

I use 1 step colder in all cylinders. I'll be changing my plugs next week before I get the EQT remote dyno tune so when I pull the plugs I'll pay particular attention to number 1. My plugs are also gapped at 20.

With the quickness a fire causes damage I’d rather take the time to GTFO.

A small extinguisher isn’t gotta stop a oil or fuel fire, especially since you’re gonna flare it up popping the hood.

They make new GTI everyday.

I really wanna see someone use an actual EGT probe pre turbo next to the up stream o2 port. I think everyone but APR is running toasty tunes unintentionally (note: not an APR fanboy, but they do show proof of independently testing EGT and several other parameters).

I respect your opinion on the matter.
I feel a little differently about them. Spent a lot of time around marine engines equipped with massive turbos and exhaust piping that all had blankets and wraps. Do they reach the temps that our little setups see at times? Maybe not, but I don’t know really. There are many high HP cars that utilize them and aren’t burning down all over the country.
Maintenance/Inspecting is everything when it comes to these things IMO.
I won’t deny that they could pose a risk but so could an oil leak onto a hot manifold.
I do plan to wrap and blanket my setup and maybe get a fire extinguisher hehe.
Most if not all turbocharged marine engines are diesel. EGT on those engines are a lot lower unless they have a DPF. Even then, compared to our cars exhaust temps that can reach 1500F easy. I guess it really comes down to this. If you're going to get a blanket choose the one you get wisely. Don't get some cheapo Chinese one off eBay. If you can find it grab a turbo cover that's metal. That's going to be the safest bet.

I would never do a pillar mount again, even though I thought it was so cool back in the day. With air bags and/or bad installs, I feel like it's just a projectile waiting to happen.
