Highline Door Module Retrofit: Compatibility between Golf and Tiguan?

I need to retrofit highline door control modules into my 2019 MK7.5 GSW S. I am having trouble confidently sourcing the parts I need, and would appreciate some insight.

I know I need part numbers 5Q4959593F (driver) and 5Q4959592F (passenger). My base model has 5Q4959393F/392F.

From what I found on scans on ross-tech, these can be found on 2019 Alltrack (all trim levels), 2019 GTI (all trims), and 2019 GSW SEL (maybe SE as well). I am confident the modules from these cars would be plug and play with my car. But so far, the salvage yards are unwilling to remove them from saleable doors. I'm not having any luck on ebay either.

According to ross-tech, the same part numbers can also be found on 2019 Tiguan SEL.

In comparing the scan details, the modules from the Tiguan and the Golfs share the same 'ASAM Dataset': (EV_DCU2DriveSideMAXHCONT 001005). My understanding is it is the dataset that matters.

But I also see that the 'VCID' for the Tiguan differs from that for the Golfs, (CFE1706A96ACFB302F-809A for the Tiguan vs. 4FFB72E5A750267F03B-801A for the Golfs). I don't know what VCID means in practice, but the fact it is the same for all of the Golfs, but different for the Tiguan is concerning.

Does anyone know for sure if the modules from a Tiguan would be plug and play with my GSW?

If the answer to that question is yes, then could I buy new OEM parts from VW, even though there is no way to specify 'Golf' vs 'Tiguan'? According to this post, new modules need to be flashed with the appropriate software via ODIS before installation, although the fact he was trying to use 5Q4 parts when his e-Golf required 5Q0 ones makes me question the accuracy of that conclusion.

Brad: Hi!

Notice the new livery on the Ross-Tech logo (it's a direct copy from their webpage) - the bit on the right-side is a recent addition!!

Clearly the American flag is about the country of manufacture (which is a good thing- America makes quality stuff). But, I'm not sure what the crossed-rifles on the Ross-Tech banner has to do with diagnostic devices. However it does speak volumes about the owner's absolute obsession with guns!!

I no longer participate on the VCDS forum because Uwe Ross censors anyone that does NOT support his ultra-right views on US gun-culture. Of course Uwe is entitled to run his forum anyway he chooses - but censorship on a public forum because of a contrary view on guns is a principle thing for me!!

Anyway, I'll get off my soap-box - as for your question, AFAIK, VCID is an in-house debugging facility that's used to diagnose the VCDS software. I'm not sure how the actual number is generated - but my understanding is that it doesn't come from the module.

And yes- the beauty of second hand door modules from donor cars is that they don't need to be flashed!!

Are you restricting your search for a 2nd hand module to America? There is no need to do this - you simply need to make sure that the donor car has the same drive side as your country (Australian wrecker modules won't work)

My 2019 e-Golf SE is a MQB just like the 2019 GSW_S. The "new" modules I purchased on AliEx from China needed to be flashed to make them aware they were in a Golf (they came coded for something else from China). They are essentially scrap junk to me at this point. The seller never provided coding files to me, and I don't have ODIS/VCP to pull the necessary datasets from VW's database to flash them for a US Golf. Your best bet is either the painstaking method I used: finding modules from a totaled Golf stateside, or finding a modules from a Golf in a LHD country, if you don't have VCP/ODIS. If you have VCP/ODIS, I'll make you a great deal on some modules from China, just PM your address, acquiring the datasets is up to you...

Like Don said, find some used modules. That was the path that ultimately worked for me.
P.S. I always wondered if the Tiguan modules would work, but owned 4 useless modules before I got the used Golf modules, so I was already over-invested in modules.

I thought this logo was a meme but no, it’s real and it’s on the front page of Ross Tech 😂 I’m glad I never gave those nut cases my money. It’s overpriced 90s-era software anyway. If I do ever need a VCDS for some reason I’ll make sure to buy it from my trusted reseller, AliExpress 😏

Back to the task at hand — if anyone needs ODIS and/or parameter files, you may find the ones you need on mibsolution.one. All you need then is a VAS5054 tool from AliExpress to flash it. I used it for my memory driver seat retrofit when I needed parameters.
