Hi have I have a 2015 golf gtd that is just burning and eating oil, it’s got 111k on the clock, I had the gearbox oil change done at the start of the year, I had a slight leak in the crankshaft due to a worn out seal and that was fixed and I’ve had the oil filter change but I’m having to put oil in every 7 days.

I do on average about 350-400 miles a week

I’m just worried now I need a rebuild, I can’t afford that just genuinely gutted and upset because I can’t find the issue already spent good money trying to maintain it :(

When you say "having to put in oil every 7 days", what do you mean? A quart, a cup, a teaspoon?

When did this start? All of a sudden? Over time? Any visible leaks or stains on the driveway?

Sorry, i am new to this, I am putting about 1 litre in every 7 - 10 days, the problem started suddenly after the fix to the leak in the crankshaft.
There is no visible leaks I have put cardboard under to see and nothing is showing as leaking, I am not sure what the issue and that is what is so frustrating.
When I bought it had no issues, the problem just started occurring last 3 months. The car drives fine there is no lag but there has been times when the engine light has come on but goes off soon after

If i put it a oil fortifier or something to make the oil thicker, it increases the time to about 21 days by which the oil light comes back on again.
Some have suggested due to the fact it has 111k on the clock, it is possible the engine or the pistons may need replaced, but i am not to sure hence why i have come on this forum for any advice.

Gee, I wonder if there might be a connection. Since you don't have a visible leak, then you must be burning oil - so piston rings, turbo etc.

But this can't be diagnosed via the internet - you'll need to find a good shop to diagnose and then help you decide a way ahead.

But you need to get this sorted sooner than later

And I would not bring it back to the place you went to if this started RIGHT AFTER they did the work.

Or do, and ask them why their work is causing your car to consume massive amounts of oil…
