This is not the tacky glossy chrome, these look like Audi RS mirrors. And they look good IMO
Surprisingly despite ditching the center pipes, I like the rear end cause it looks "Fat"
Also a good thing that the ESP can be switched off! Shy of 300bhp is nice for a stock engine, provided the car has cut some weight of course.
On the flip side the front bumper looks so bland and the steering wheel is not sporty enough.
Don't know if i'll buy this...Hopefully it'll be as tunable as the MK6, cause I currently have way more power and torque, and so much better brakes (potential swap?). The Merc A45 AMG seems to be a more no-compromise-uber-hatch, with a "right-up-there" 355bhp power figure.
Anyone knows how much that toy weighs?
I can't recall how much exactly does it weight, but I've certainly read somewhere that she passed through a successful diet.
regarding the steering wheel, I also thought the steering wheel is not sporty back when the GTI was revealed, until I've put my hands on it and driven the car, maaaan!! does it feel nice along with the progressive steering gear ratio!
lastly, "on paper" 0-60
A45 AMG in 4.6 sec (although I'm damn sure it'll do faster in reality)
Golf R 4.9 (no one has tested the car yet but it could be less in reality, VW are known for being conservative with their claims)
all what I'm saying is be careful AMG! mk7 Golf R might somehow be the answer to A45
Well that's one key concern. I am not sure how much you can tune this new platform. You cannot compare MK6 R with MK7 R, for one: there is a stage2+ on the MK6 R and it is unlikely to be the case for the MK7 R being a TSI engine (just as there is no stage2+ for the MK6 GTI). Second I heard the downpipe is actually immersed in coolant to reduce exhaust temps for more efficiency...not too practical for the typical stage 2 upgrade. Also go figure what VW has done to "protect" the ECU... Anyway it's too soon to draw conclusions, and save for very approximate estimated stage 1 gains (~50bhp at best) we can definitely not give power figures at this time. Weight is definitely going to be a very decisive factor.you can tune the R to be over 400hp with stage 2+ if you calculate the history of the tuning with the previous engines and how they gain 100hp with dp,tune, hpfp. I bet you this will be around 450+ with stage 3 on stock turbo.
I cannot wait!!!!!!!
I hope the dsg is revised though.
