Hello all, hope to identify the previous owner of this 2012 GTI. The dealer has no details/mods of the vehicle and won’t tell me if it was a trade in or auction car (assuming it’s an auction vehicle). Would be ecstatic to find the original owner and learn more about the vehicle before purchasing. Photo included. Thank you.

If you have no history about the vehicle and the dealer isn't forthcoming about anything, don't buy it.
It’s a great deal and overall cost is low = low risk. I guess I’m just trying to take it one step further and hope to get lucky and find the previous owner. Even just to get an accurate list of mods. I know it’s a long shot.

Welp, the seller listed as 2013. VIN claims 2012. Not a good feeling on this one but if the original owner finds it, please reach out.
Model year is frequently different from manufacture year. My 2015 was mfg nov 2014.

Get a pre purchase inspection from a dealer or someone qualified with vw (lemon squad isn't a bad choice if no other options).

Get the vin ran through carfax and get all available service records. If they can't produce satisfactory service records, then negotiate the price based on deferred maintenance needed at that mileage. Ding the price on anything the ppi finds, regardless if you'd fix it or not.
