Helix Soundbox VW sound upgrade HELP!

LOVE IT. Best appreciated with iPod/iPhone in MDI streaming quality music. Radio and A2DP it's hard to appreciate the Helix. Streaming at My Pony by Ginuwine at 80% volume on Spotify Premium, you're aware of the huge improvement the Helix brings.

It's so good that I'm afraid I've blown my front tweeters. Crutchfield has a Helix set but I'm researching the dimensions. Would love to keep it all Helix.

lol wait, why 4 hours? I thought it was set to GTI settings by default & you just swap out the rear tire for it?

....just looking for more info... thanks!:)

I'm highly interested to hear more info on this also! I thought this was mostly plug and play? Looking hard at this as an option for my 16 R.

You have to remove the infotainment headunit in the glove box and connect a special harness to it and then run wires all the way to the trunk which means the removal of trim pieces and I think the rear seat as well.

I remember seeing the installation instructions in a pdf somewhere.

Helix has 2x6in speakers... If you install a 12in, it's moving about 2 times more air....
it cost me 600CAD to have my system installed, with a 12in Pioneer and a nice amp. Dealer said it will cost about 900CAD to install Helix ( they couldn't do it in the end).
And I keep my spare tire.
If you can, save yourself some money and have a great sound (this works for Fender systems).

Where does the 12" Pioneer sit then?
My car comes with no spare - so not loosing anything witbh the Helix subwoofer. Haven't had a puncture in last 17 years!

Has anyone confirmed whether or not the GTI MKVII (2016) needs to be reprogrammed? I'm getting bad hissing and distortion from the tweeters after installing the soundbox.

It's good. The bass is deep and full, but not boomy.

I actually have it set to -2 or -3 on my radio because it's pretty powerful.

Still getting slight hissing from my tweeters. I'm wondering if they blew before the amp was ever programmed.
